Pleasant stop

A clean and friendly town with a good bakery that was open early on a Sunday for coffee and snacks. Good service.

After the other spectacular locations in N.Z. , Twizel is bound to be mundane. Nice and tidy country town. Fot fishing enthusiasts.

The journey from Christchurch to Twizel took about 3 hours in our car, the scenery is stunning. Twizel a good town to base yourself as you explore the area, great fishing, walking, bike riding, boating and snow and water skiing

Stop by the salmon farm and enjoy fresh salmon sashimi. Feed the salmon in the pond. This is an annual treat when I go down south for a holiday with my family.

Great little place stayed in A framed units surrounded by snow covered mountains. Didnt get to motel till late. Owners turn heaters and electric blankets on so fantastic. Snow on ground next morning. Great way to start our south island trip.

If you drive from Christchurch or nearby areas, rather than take the coast Highway i would highly suggest you to take the internal one and visit the Blu Lakes, Tekapo and Pukaki where is also Twizel. This small town is also teh gate for the direct road which takes you to the doors of Mt. Cooks National Park, a must.... More

While Twizel might be a good place to start your day at, going to Mount Cook or to Pukaki lake, there's very little else to do here. This is a tiny town and only offers a drive to the nearby lake Ohau and the artificial lake Ruataniwha.

Stopped over during my travel tour of NZ South Island, a gem of a place... peaceful and just great! I will be going back and hope to spend more time ...just relax and enjoy some wine and food...
