This is a friend a I yearly visit. Lunch then some fun at the casino, definitely made to feel welcome once we were inside the casino. For a yearly hour or two of fun, not a bad time and drinks were not overly expensive. Nice facilities, next time I think we need to try a meal here too.

As casinos go this is really cool, open seven days a week. They are extremely Covid conscious so you will feel at ease. The dinning area had about 6 televisions all plying different sports good atmosphere. Only three to four at a table at least a meter apart. Masks are worn by all staff and unless you have an exempt card you too will be expected to wear a face mask, only to be taken off when you eat or drink.
A magnitude of slot machines all set apart. We played Roulette and I came away a winner, Lol. I highly recommend a visit, a free tip, do what I do when you win, walk away with your winnings.

Smaller casino with a mixture of tables and slot machines.
I personally found it quite difficult to navigate - at one bar I waited three times for service and it wasn’t until one of the patrons showed me the small iPad thing to tap. Service was still extremely slow. Same at the machines.
We did have a light meal in the cafe and this was pleasant. I would recommend the sticky date pudding and suggest you give the chocolate mousse cake a miss (I think it’s made once per week).

Went to the casino “restaurant “ to celebrate a birthday - what a mistake! The dining area was like a low rent cafeteria located in one of the pokie rooms. Experienced an appalling meal (so called beef rengdang) that was essentially a greasy beef cheek and a soft boiled egg on a bed of plain rice. Dined to the intrusive noise of indistinguishable music accompanied by the tinkle of pokie machines which made conversation nigh on impossible. Don’t go there!

Must be the worst casino anywhere, food not good, machines tight, security staff useless. management always making excuses for poor service. felt threatened by another client recently and security staff useless in sorting situation out actually felt my safety was at risk. only recently started enforcing mask rules. some drink service staff are very good but some others need training. tighter free drink policy which has annoyed some regular customers, enjoy gambling but this casino has sucked all the fun from this really has become a depressing and miserable place to go.

I live a few hundred metres from Christchurch Casino and have attended numerous times over the years. While I generally enjoy attending and have had pleasant experiences there, I have also had some not so good ones compounded by a negative experience I had this week.
A group of us visited the casino on a Sunday evening after being out in town for a few drinks. On entering the casino we went to the Valley View bar and ordered food and a beverage. The burger I got was the worst I have had in years. It was a frozen pattie with some pre made salad slapped in between some bread. This was the general consensus across the larger group. After this we requested another drink which we were refused. The manager attended and declined to tell us why stating "I do not have to tell you my observations" when asked for rationale for her decision. Dumbfounded we left the casino, insulted by the false insinuations made against us collectively as a group.
Previous negative experiences I have had in the casino include poor service particularly if requesting a beverage at the game tables and generally rude staff across the spectrum.
It appears the casinos night trade is being targeted towards heavy gamblers as the wider services beyond gambling are poor at best. I hope it is a successful business model for them.

As a middle aged person this used to be a good place to go enjoy a little gambling a drink and meal etc this is no longer the case, Recent visits have been disappointing.
Except for a few long serving staff and one new male staff member, the blond one in Monza bar who do provide good service.drink service is slow, often wrong and no smiles or thank yous from staff. food in Monza has also declined recently, cold pizza with no cheese. and they let staff serve it and think its ok.
the grand cafe lunch buffet has gone down hill so much that the last meal we had was awful, not one item of food was up to standard, items running out, meat tough items getting more limited and the advertise prawn cocktails on the online lunch menu, after several visits over lunch haven't seen one yet.
The downstairs bar service is so slow that i often give up and go without a drink
My last visit i had to deal with lots of bitter grumpy pensioners who moan continuously, loud screaming asians who yell from one end of the gaming floor to the other, and a group of foul mouthed drunken munters who still manage to be served alcohol even when drunk
The also claim that the do not alter the odds on machines but some machines the gambler can check the odds and one that i play often the odds have been altered. only by a small amount but altered none the less.
A large amount of the floor staff will also have loud conversations near patrons and seem to forget that the place is for the clients entertainment not theirs
if you like poor service and bad food in an overcrowded place full of munters by all means go to this place, just accept that it is not up to the standard of many overseas casinos and probably will not improve
Due to the fact i like a gamble i will probably go back as most christchurch bars a not great either but just wish they would up their game

Didn’t enjoy my visit, and I don’t think I will
Be returning. Went here for dinner with my friends however found the menu quite boring and basic. I ended up going with a burger and hitch was quite bland. I didn’t find the chips and burger enough for a meal as I was still left hungry after I had finished.
The seating was very poor we had a group of 5 and they only had tables for 2 or 4 people no larger table we had to move a high table across however I then was squished between our table and the neighbours table constantly bumping there table and at point spilling some of there drink.

This review is for the meal we had at monza bar not the whole casino experience. both of us had ordered the sunday roast special and it was horrible. seemingly the meat was ham but it was dry overcooked and tough, we had not been able to guess what the meat was so had to ask, except for this the vegetables came out cold except for the potatoes and the amount of food on the plate was miserable. OK it may have only been $15 but it was not a pleasant meal, although the wait staff are very good monza is not a good place for food as this is not the first time we have been disappointed here maybe they should stick to cooking wedges and toasted sandwiches only as other food types seem to be a fail

OK food has improved, but gaming areas are getting worse, many favorite slots have been removed, got into an argument with an asian customer getting to close and not giving me any space, staff of course pander to the asian customers as they assume that they have more money to spend than none asians so they get away with bad behavior when the none asian get the blame. still many staff who talk so loud near clients that they are distracting, noise levels now so bad that I find it almost painful to be in the place. many machines breaking down and not maintained, getting so bad that if anyone wants to open another casino in christchurch to provide competition it would probably get good business as I enjoy gambling but no longer enjoy this casino. some staff still very good but can not make up for how bad this place is
