Amazing experience. Our guide Dylan was highly professional and great fun at the same time. Rafting and swimming in that ice blue river was great fun and one of my dearest acivities in New Zealand. It even bet skydiving when it comes to adrenaline.
I had an incredible time rafting with Rangitata Rafting. Such a scenic river to float and the water felt great. The guides were all fun and experienced. Absolutely loved the experience and would highly recommend.
First time going white water rafting and we conquered grade 5!
The river was beautiful, guides were all so friendly and funny, and the equipment were all well maintained.
Bbq provided after was just sausages, potatoes and salad. But was so hungry after the rapids....More

hi, the itinerary looks good I would tend to take a coach from TeAnau rather than the rather long day trip from Queenstown, that way you have the opportunity to explore TeAnau and Manapouri and do the glow worm caves tour by boat in the evening from TeAnau. It will be mre relaxed for you too. I would tend to drive Wanaka to TeAnau rather than over night in Qt then spend time in QT after milford sound etc
Family Activities in NZ (5 Replies)
We will be spending 19 days in NZ next April - family of 4 inc 2 children aged 8 & 9. Rotorua in the north for 4 days and the balance of time in the south. I'm looking for advice on the following please: 1. Rafting - We would like to take the kids on a rafting trip and I believe there a a few companies who run the Grade 2 rapid trips. River Rats (Rotorua); Family Adventures (Queenstown) and Rangitata Rafts (Christchurch). I was wondering if people have had experience with any of...More

You can see seals for free all year round around the town of Kaikoura. There is a very accessible seal colony just outside the town on the peninsula and another, visible but less accessible at Ohau Point a few Km north of the town (you stop at a roadside layby and watch them far below you). Penguins are going to be harder to find in April. There are free public hides just south of Oamaru but they only come out of the water at dusk in the breeding season.
