It's such a sad memorial, but that's why it's so moving. I definitely recommend taking a few minutes to stop and really take it in, preferably early in your trip.

Visited this memorial for the simple reason of paying my respects to the people who tragically lost their lives during the earthquake. Beautiful and fitting memorial.

Names carved onto a wall, including the many Japanese teenagers who were attending English classes in the basement of the CTV building that collapsed. Worth a quick look and contemplation.

This is a small memorial comprised of chairs commemorating the people killed in one building during the earthquake. The high chairs were heart wrenching and makes the reality of the tragedy feel very close to home. Worth the short walk.

I think a must for all to visit. A beautiful quiet reflective memorial location to remember all those lives lost in the earthquake. In the heart of a city that will never be the same ... But will be different from then on. Deepest sympathies...More

This "long white wall" in remembrance of the victims of the 2011 Earthquake (with their names engraved on it) is conveniently located right in the CBD yet at a "peaceful spot" right by the Avon River which in my opinion is a pretty "ideal" location...More
