Not too bad a road up to the top and clearly marked but make sure you bring chains especially mid-winter - we had to put them on when we were there but they can be easily rented from shops in central Wanaka. Not a huge amount, only 2 lifts but they give access to a huge amount of ski field... More

Hi there - thank you for reviewing Treble Cone. In midwinter it is essential to carry chains, as conditions can change regularly. There is plenty of space to fit them at the bottom of the mountain or at some Chain Fitting bays along the road up. As you say, you can hire them in Wanaka and fit them at the... More

Great skiing for advanced skiers. Not a great place to take beginner to intermediate skiers, there's only one real 'easy' (green) run. There are plenty of intermediate runs, but they're steeper than other mountains and/or with moguls, so you'd want to be confident on the skis before heading here. For confident intermediate to advanced skiers, this is simply brilliant though,... More

We were 4 aussie ladies doing a road trip. We got the $10 Book Me deals for the scenic chairlift ride to the top of the mountain, but were concerned that the chairlift may not be totally stopped to enable my 77 year old mother to mount & dismount the chair without injury. I had previously rung before booking this... More

Treble Cone boasts one of the most amazing views I have ever seen. You feel like you are on top of the world and the skifield has some great runs on it, so long as you're a confident skier or snowboarder as they are quire steep and narrow.

One of our favorite NZ ski areas with plenty of on and off-piste sking for most skiing abilities. (my friends and I are advanced skiers and my children progressed from beginner to intermediate at TC). Weekdays are always best as the limited number of lifts and their snail-pace speed usually have very long queues on the weekend. On the topic... More

High, steep and fun. What's not to like? This field is the best in NZ for good skiers. Top tips: 1. Best for good to advanced skiers - this field really opens up to the better skier. 2. Use a good 4wd. This tip will make sense when you are there - life is sooooo much better in this place... More
