QUIET SPOT IN THE CITY

Nice quiet spot to take time out - right in the centre of the city. Entrance to library, information centre and art gallery from here.

Many tours pick up here.. we found the centre to be a great source of information.. staff were very helpful.. it included a souvenir shop also.

Civic square is a place connected to many other attractions in absolutely all directions. A great place for a workday lunch. Often concerts and rallies are held here and is a thoroughfare and connection to something in just about ALL directions! A literal hub into EVERYTHING!

You can get away from the noise of the city and watch people. Entertainment from time to time. A lovely place on a sunny day. Just over the bridge from the sea.

Civic square is the squarish spot between the information Centre, wellington city library, city art gallery and council buildings.

Though the suspended and iconic fern ball has gone and the town hall is out of operation-it would be unfair to blame Civic Square of post earthquake considerations. It remains as the gateway between city and sea. with plenty of community minded events staged there. The central library and the City Art Gallery still remain intact and many a free... More

Civic Square is a lovely place to sit and have lunch in the sun or people watch. It is adjacent to the beautiful library with its Nikau tree sculptures, the City Art Gallery, the Tourist Information Centre and Wellington City Council as well as being part of the harbour area walk. In there summer or for festivals there are often... More

This is a lovely place to sit and eat lunch or read a book in the summer time. Of course, during normal office lunch hours it fills up pretty fast, but there is plenty of space. It's a green-ish area surrounded by some of the cities most useful buildings for a backpacker, namely the library and the art gallery.

This is a great asset for Wellington and is used for many key events throughout the year. On a sunny winter's day it was packed with people having lunch and generally wandering through. It connects the waterfront to the shopping streets.
