We went on the ferry to Days bay . Perfect winters day , this is a good weather trip for sure . Gave a good perspective of the harbor . Beautiful on a nice day , and I am an Aucklander .Potentially a nightmare on a shIit day . Walked to Katherine Mansfield's cottage ( which was not clearly marked... More

Lovely ferry ride over to this beautiful side of Wellington with great views of the city on the return journey. Lovely beach with boardwalk / pier for jumping in to the ocean and nice coastal walks.

We never tire of the ferry ride from Welling round to Days Bay on a fine day of course. Once you arrive there you have 3 choices of eating establishments depending on your requirements all of which are very good and ranging from ice cream parlour, cafe and a restaurant. There is a nice beach and excellent public toilets, great... More

This is a good day trip from Wellington. Either drive around or take the ferry. When you get here there is a good cafe for lunch or an ice cream and bring your togs for a swim. At the Days Bay pavillion there are ducks to feed and a nice short bush walk.

Drive or take the ferry to this bay. Café just by the wharf. Try a wharf jump, well worth a photo. What a view across the harbour

If you have a car the drive around the bays to Days bay is very scenic on a sunny day. The other alternative is the East West ferry from Wellington wharf which departs regularly. Days bay is stoney but very nice for a dip if a hot day..Plenty of lovely grass areas for a family game of cricket and a... More

Not as outright pretty as Scorching Bay, this one still has its own character and is also very convenient to downtown Wellington. More shops, more people, an extensive wall and walkway.

Have been going to Days Bay for decades and just love it. Easy to get to by car. If your based in Wellington city may take the ferry across the harbour. Go wharf jumping or swim out to the raft and relax. The beach is nice enough. It's Wellington so don't expect golden sand and tropical water temperature, but still... More
