We drove up Mt Victoria before taking our hire car back, it was cloudy, very cold and raining, however the the views were amazing. So later in the week on a clearer day, we took the bus up, and then walked back into town. It is well worth a visit.

Many bus tours and pedestrians walk from the car park up the stairs to taken in the view of the city, harbour, and environs. There is also a trail network throughout the park that the mount overlooks that can be run or hiked, also leading to the summit. However you get to the top, it's worth the view. Enjoy.

Trying to locate the famous Lord of the Rings filming locations on Mt Victoria is somewhate a challenge as there is almost no signage or accurate path directions to assist. The area is visually beautiful and worth a visit however keep in mind the famous 'Tree Root' is long gone. All that remains is an empty hollow. A visit only... More

Visited Saturday 10th September. We found the road a bit narrow and steep in a couple of places or it might have just been the road we choose to drive up to the lookout on. Once there you get great views of Wellington and Wellington Harbour. There are a few different viewing areas and well worth spending sometime walking around... More

The views from Mount Victoria were stunning. You will be able to see 360 degree view from the top and it's a great hike. Must do list when you are visiting Wellington.

The views from Mount Victoria are amazing. You can see the whole of Wellington from the top. Its a bit of a steep climb, but the view is well worth it when you get to the lookout. There are paths through the woods, but also pavement and road access. It is a definite, must do, when visiting Wellington.

The non road track an be a bit steep & muddy so safer to take the road and pavement. Great views of the city all around from the top and well worth the effort!

This must be n the list of places to visit for any/all out of town visitors, and for locals alike. Stunning views in all directions, right out to the Hutt Valley and beyond. Some interesting history too, for the history buffs. The Wind Turbine in Brooklyn (10 minutes drive away) is another must see for the fabulous 360 degree views,... More
