Beautiful gardens

After heading up in the cable car we enjoyed a stroll through the fardens. Very scenic and the kids loved the playground.

Very hilly as to be expected in this capital city, we love wandering on different paths, we come often sometimes we just stay around the wintergardens and cafe area, or we wander up the hill (or down if we took the cable car) to the playground, or sometimes we just take any number of paths and go on an adventure,... Take the cable car from Lambton Quay and start at the top. Admire the views then follow the path all the way down stopping to look on the way. The path winds it way down to the more formal gardens which had tulips blooming when we were there. Continue on to the hot house area. There is a cafe there... More

We meandered up these hilly gardens as they were close to our hotel (The Bolton) and we were very pleasantly surprised. Lots of little paths to take and also a chance to explore a really interesting old cemetry dating to early colonial times. Definitely a highlight for us. Recommend it if you want to check out one of the hillside... More

The gardens are well worth the walk down even if it's just to appreciate the size and ponder the effort of maintaining them. Wife found many interesting shrubs to look at, and I got an education on ferns. We walked up the hill following google maps but didn't take the most opportune route. We cut through onto 'the terrace' half... More

This is a great way to find peace and quiet with a couple of minutes of the CBD. It is free to enter and it's easy to find a good spot for a picnic.

Although spring is wet and chilly here in Wellington, still a walk in the gardens is worth the effort and time as they are wild enough to please without difficulty. Modest in expanse yet beautiful .

The gardens are gorgeous and Taye about 45 mins to an hr to walk through if you start at the top of the mountain. The cable cart takes you right to the enterance.

Strolling through this beautiful botanical gardens I'm reminded of the beautiful tulips about to open. This is a such a beautiful place to come with great walkways and an adventure playground for the young. I've been coming here for 40 plus years and still consider a most beautiful garden to come to.Small compared to gardens overseas but still beautiful and... More
