Simple day outing.

Just a short ferry ride over to Eastbourne, but a lovely way to get out on the water for ½ hour -- to get a different view of Wellington.

The harbour is one on the best things about Wellington and on a nice day there is no better way to see it than on the Dominion Post Ferry. There are regular sailings from Queens Wharf to Days Bay and back often via Somes Island (which is itself worth a half-day's visit). The trip takes about 20-30 mins and if... More

For just NZ$22 for the round trip, this is a great way to see Wellington Harbour & perhaps stop off at Seatoun or Days Bay which I'd like to do next time. It's mainly a commuter ferry, so the timetable concentrates on peak commuter hours rather than offering a regular service throughout the day. The ferry is licensed and very... More

Whether you're a visitor to Wellington, a resident on a day out or a commuter, this is a great ferry ride. It's efficient and direct but the journey is very enjoyable. If you're at the dock at Queens Wharf and you can't yet see your vessel, don't worry - their turnaround time is short so the ferry will arrive, drop... More

I love getting the ferry home from Wellington to Seatoun. It is such a great way to travel with the Seaview and views of the different bays on the way to Seatoun. If you feel like it you can get a beer, wine or snack. Sitting outside is great providing it is not too cold.

East by West Ferries depart from Queens Wharf in Wellington's CBD. My wife and I caught the ferry to Days Bay and back on fine and sunny and had a great trip. We sat outside on both journeys. The staff were very polite and helpful while buying a ticket was simple. Our trip over took around 20 minutes while the... More

A fantastic place to take the kids for a picnic during the school holidays. Back to nature so close to the city. Very easy, comfortable boat trip from Days Bay.

This was recommended to me by relatives, who suggested it as an alternative way to arrive in Wellington. Since there is so much water around the city, this makes a lot of sense. Judging by the timetable this service appears to be popular with commuters from Eastbourne. It was a relatively calm day so I stayed on the deck for... More
