Gene is a most knowledgeable guide who clearly loves what she does. From the moment she met us in Welington Station through to the end, she kept us thoroughly entertained and informed. She answered all the questions knowledgeably and gave us information whenever asked. The walk covers a lot of ground but we took in most of the downtown area... More

Genie knows her history and she knows Wellington, but best be ready to walk at a normal to fast pace. She met us at the train station; an easy 1/2 mile from the cruise port. I don't remember everything we saw (and won't until I download all our photos) but we saw Parliament, a beautiful and amazing old historical cemetery,... More

We really enjoyed our 3 hour walking tour with Gene whom we thought showed us the highlights of Wellington. She recommended we visit Parliament after her tour. The Parliament tour is free and at the end of it we stayed on to visit a working session in the chambers which we found especially interesting. I highly recommend you book her... More

Gene "Genie" Mitchell is a powerhouse. She knows her city and has designed a comprehensive walking tour covering many parts of the downtown area. Gene arranged for the group to meet at the Wellington Railway Station. It is about a half mile from the pier but it will get you in shape for the day ahead. There was no problem... More

Great alternative to standard cruise ship excursions. We covered everything Wellington has to offer and were not disappointed one bit. Walking at a swift pace, we covered about 6 miles and all the major attractions.

Thank you Gene for your excellent walking tour. We would highly recommend your guided walk especially to those on a cruise with a limited port time. We covered all the major attractions including the cable car ride and the botanical gardens. After the walk Gene accompanied those interested to the fantastic Te Papa museum where we spent a very enjoyable... More

Genie's a long-time resident of New Zealand and takes her tour participants on an insightful walking tour of Wellington's important historical buildings and sites, including Old Saint Paul's Church and New Zealand's parliament buildings. Genie is energetic and funny; if you're a "walker", you'll enjoy your morning with her. Be ready to walk; it's more than a slow stroll in... More

We were on a cruise ship and wanted a small walking tour.We had a wonderful time on this walk. Highlights were Old St. Paul's, Parliament, new buildings. Once we took the cable car to the top it became a beautiful walk down thru the Botanical Gardens. The rose gardens was very special. We even saw a cricket game. Finished with... More

So Wellington might not be the sexiest or most glamorous city you'll find. But, Gene is a wonderful tour guide with a ton of energy! She took us around town, to the capital, and to many sites. Due to poor weather, our botanical gardens portion was disrupted, but that has nothing to do with her. Gene kept her composure even... More

Gene offers a fabulous walking tour of Wellington. Our groups of 10 walked from the ship to the nearby train station where we met up with Gene. Due to a rainy day, our itinerary had been adjusted to a walking tour inside the parliament buildings. It provided insights to how the parliamentary system differs from that of the USA. The... More
