A interesting place to spend a bit of time
We really enjoyed our time on the waterfront, plenty of places to eat and drink. There is plenty of other things to see , plenty of boats to admire , nice statues and some very old cranes on display plus a old working boat , we wonder if they are going to be restored for tourism purpose. Spend time there and enjoy it.

    Waterfront Walk
The earliest known name for Wellington, derived from Māori legend, is Te Upoko o te Ika a Maui or the head of Maui’s fish. Another Māori name translates to the Harbor of Tara. European settlers arrived in 1840 and the port became an important area for transporting goods and people to and from the harbor. On the waterfront, you can skate, bike, use the pedal boats, or kayak. There are a variety of places to eat and drink. Another option is to explore by using one of the heritage trails and/or visit the museum.

    good place to walk, lounge
The waterfront afford nice views across the harbor to mountains and houses crawling up them, as well as a marins on one side and big piers (navy?) on the other. there are several monuments or other places f interest as you walk the length, from Te Papa ending in a bigger center (convention?)

I feel there was a spiritual connection between me and the waterfront. It was the first time I did my photography assignment. Thus, it made me feel calm, serene and tranquil at the same time. It might be divine guidance calling out to me.

the city nature is nice, but the people are nasty, ugly, depressed, and defensive and very hostile to foreigners -- like nationalist from 1933 germany. they have in-fighting over island between Europeans and local island people. go see nature but do not think they normal people... nooo!

A lovely area to stroll with lots to see. I was taken with the memorial plaques and liked the old cranes, but there are also bars and restaurants as well as activities such as rowing and kayaking going on. Good interpretation boards tell the story of the area.

Wellington waterfront is a great area for a stroll - a few things to see and lots of cages and bars along the way. You can stroll from close to the Beehive to Te Papa for a very nice walk. Definitely recommend on a good day.

It was relaxing to walk along the waterfront with the breeze. There are many people most of the time. I feel you can see most people there in wellington. kids, teenagers, couples and so on enjoy spending time there.
We were lucky to have chance to watch firework for Chinese New Year! You needn't go there early to occupy a spot for the firework. I have never watched firework that closed to me! What a unforgettable experience!
you can find restaurants and sailing yacht! And, we saw quite a lot of people trying the dragon boats! Look fun!
you will still feel safe to go there at night.

The Waterfront in Wellington is a great area to walk, people watch or catch a bite to eat. As one of the busier areas in Wellington, there are plenty of shops, food, etc... There is a nice playground for kids, museums and other interesting to-do's. A vibrant vibe with plenty to offer.

The Wellington highlight and a must do is to stroll around the Wellington waterfront. There is so much to see and do within a very short distance to many of Wellington's best attractions. Even to bide your time and watch the world passing by with many tourists walking around too. Very interesting place to observe life in action. Easy place to get inspired, become creative, or just reflect. Peaceful, and sets the mood to relax into the scenery. Love this place and always enjoy going here whenever I'm in Wellington.
