Judy was an outstanding guide, exhibiting a love for the area and the history of its early inhabitants. The tour had enough informational stops to allow even a novice hiker to keep up with the group. She was well prepared for our group with walking sticks, water and snacks. The hot pools were very relaxing after the hike.

We did this in February as one of the excursions from a Viking cruise. I would second Winnipg's excellent review and thank Naomi Glover for her careful attention to all our needs. She was kind enough to take pictures of all of us with the beautiful beach views behind us. (only ones my husband and I have of the two of us) We even stopped for ice cream when we came back down to the town and were given free admission to the municipal hot pools, which my husband and I did with another couple.

We had a very informative hike with Naomi. We were well taken care of with sun screen, walking poles and water supplied as well as two snacks while we hiked up Mt. Maunganui. Naomi was very knowledgeable about the history etc of the area. Also what beautiful views. I would recommend this hike to anyone on a cruise ship or traveling through Tauranga.

On January 8, 2020 my wife and I, both seniors, hiked to the top of Mount Maunganui with Guided Footprints guide Naomi Glover. This was a wonderful experience, not only because of the beauty of the mountain but also because of the expert guidance of Naomi, the Footprints guide. Naomi is very well versed in the lore of the region and the mountain in particular. She was knowledgeable about the local flora, including many plants which were edible and medicinal. As we were traveling with a group she made sure everyone was provided with walking poles and was keeping up. She had one of the hikers take up a position at the rear of the group to ensure no one was left behind. She made sure we had plenty of rest breaks to answer questions and point out places of interest. As a special touch, half way up we were treated to chocolate for energy and at the summit cookies were passed out! The same care was taken on the descent and at the bottom she took time to ensure everyone was OK and answer any further questions. All in all a great experience and one we would highly recommend. Thanks Naomi.

Thank-you to our guide Karen who made this mountain walk come alive with remarkable stories and guiding us to the top where the mountain views are Spectacular... (this is a definite to do and tick it off the bucket list).

We enjoyed hearing about wild-edibles, surrounding islands, local history, real-estate and everything in between, fascinating stories injected with passion and wit. Showing us the abundance that makes up the Bay-of-Plenty...with it's coastal beauty... and amazing marine wild-life, land animals from flightless birds to volcanic islands that protect prehistoric reptiles and wild bird sanctuaries. How early Maori thrived and the journey of colonization to date where everyone works in together to make this place so beautiful. Thank-you for this fantastic tour.

Spent this morning climbing Mount Maunganui under Karen’s expert guidance. What a fabulous experience! Challenging enough to make it feel like an achievement, with breathtaking views and lots of information about the area’s folklore, history and wildlife. Thoroughly recommended.

Well organised. First we went to Karen's car, in there she had hiking sticks, bottled water, ponchos...we could put our bathers and towel in the car so we didn't have to carry extra things up the mountain. Great walk - foggy when we got up there but we took pictures on the way up when it was clearer. The hot pools are actually in a pulblic swimming pool - not what I was expecting, but I got past that. There are 3 or so pools of different temperatures. Don't forget your thongs (flip flops) when at the pool - not a necessity, but I like to wear thongs when I walk around public pools/wet change rooms. We had a great day.
