This was a nice and peaceful walk. But I did find it a little boring after visiting Rotorua which had several of these in the middle of the city park. Bit have you not seen it before, it is a beautiful walk worth seing.

The place is beautiful and mind blowing. Colours and the Heat are just unbelievable. I would recommend it, however I think it is overpriced. It should not have to cost that much for something that is natural and should be available To everyone.

We were greeted by chickens and beguiled by alpacas. We camped, we rented a cabin and did the hot steaming valley walk, (40 minutes). All in all we were thoroughly charmed! This is a great place to base yourself for a visit to Taupo, Huka Falls and other local attractions.

Really good fun, very well organised, the pools are good, love that you can get different temperatures in different pools. A plunge pool would help though:)

You do a 30 minute walk through holes in the ground where high temperature steam are released. You have to stay on the wooden walkway as the ground is unstable and might give way under a humans weight. The sight is definitely worth it to see. I was just disappointed as we could not see the boiling mud pool. Well,... More

Very interesting to see the power of thermal activity. There is a massive power plant run on hot water....it looks like a nuclear cooling facility, but is not. You see large pipes, like you would expect for transporting oil, but it is boiling water used for electrical generation, heating and hot pools for lounging.

The Wairakei thermal pools are great after a long day of site seeing and adventure seeking. Take time to book using either, Bookme.com or grabone and you can save up to 50%, if you are able to, bring your own towel, this will save you more money. During Summer Jan-end of Feb, it can be busy 5-6! but it is... More
