Excellent place to visit for all things bees and honey. Very good for those with younger families. Lots of information and books and bee themed gifts. Not particularly cheap honey but can taste some before buying and they did have specials and sales tables. Worth a visit as is free and there is a observation beehive viewing area where you can try to find the Queen Bee amongst all the male drones doing her bidding and fattening her up!

Thanks a buzzillion for the fabulous 5 star review - we really appreciate it! So glad you enjoyed your visit and yes, isn't it great to be able to see the hard-working bees inside the live beehives doing their thing! So cool to see the Queen Bee and her royal entourage! Bees are pretty amazing creatures, that's for sure!
Thanks again for visiting - we hope to welcome you back again some time soon :-)

We always stop in here, there's something new to discover each time. Today we had the very personable and knowledgable Michelle at the tasting table, who was so enthusiastic about female bees, was very empowering for our girls. Great ice creams too

Huka Honey Hive, testers to try & smell: honey & bee-products, ointments fragrant aromas; mead, dark ales, delish creamy liqueurs to taste; transfixing watching live bees at work. Fun for kids & adults alike, cafe & icecreams. (I have gait/walking challenges (stroke), wear a legbrace.) After Huka Falls, worthwhile stop; product info beautifully presented – friendly attentive service, gifts shopping as well.

Tea was served without milk quite disappointing. For $4.50 you would expect some milk to go with the tea. Lady who served us was away with the faries. Shop was disorganized. Staff pushy to sell the alcohol.

We had a BUZZ with this fantastic tour. Truly unique experience to get up close and personal, and learned about all things bees.
Our 7 years-old girl can't stop talking about bees for few days even after the tour.
A little jar of freshly harvested to take home. :)
Don't forget to do the free honey tasting in their retail shop. Huge range of honey product available to purchase as gifts.

There are a number of interesting things to do around the Huka Falls and it's worth stopping at this attraction for a few minutes. It's a combination of educational facility and retail outlet. Lot's of cute products and interesting information - and a whole wall of bees to inspect.

The place where you can find a lot of varieties of Honey! You can even taste them before you buy and the staff explains the difference of their range. Lots of other things to buy like hand creme, soap, vitamins, liquors, and all of them were made from..Honey.
There’s also a bee farm outside but we haven’t got enough time to visit the bees.
Recommended to have 2hr for this place so you can enjoy an hour for Honey shopping, maybe 30mins at the bee farm, and the last 30mins possibly to relax and eat ice cream.

We stopped into the Huka honey hive on our quick weekend away and ended up spending an hour and a half there learning about the bees and tasting honey. I want to say a special thank you to Michelle that was working on Sunday 9/2/20 she was awesome to talk to and gave us all the information we asked for about the Royal Jelly capsules and some awesome recipes with and even without honey. We walked away with a new honey each, the Royal jelly capsules ( they are amazing) and the biggest smiles. Everyone should visit the Huka honey hive and see Michelle if you need a hand with anything

My husband and I stopped for some beeswax candles here and were delighted to discover all kinds of bee and mānuka honey products. We especially enjoyed the coffee and Kāpiti ice cream. A fire was blazing and it was a beautiful relaxing ambience that smelt of waxy honey.
On the way out I left my phone and wallet. Duh. I did not discover this until we were an hour away. I called the Hive shop and they assured me they had them, had bubble wrapped them, and would courier them to me free of charge as soon as possible. This happened and I am so grateful! Thank you Huka Honey Hive for your honesty and efficiency, and your support of the bees of course 🐝 🍯.

Just a wonderful experience, and so appealing to our group including three generations. LOVED the wonderful information we got from Jill, the amazing facility, and of course the experience of meeting the bees up close (and protected). Jill even followed up with a text message later with the answer to a curly question our curious 9 year old served up - incredible.

Hi Maggie
yes, we have a live bee display where you can see inside the hives - it's amazing!
You can also view the hives in the garden from behind a glass viewing area.
