Last week as we were buffeted by strong winds Pukeiti was a sheltered haven. There is still lots of “work in progress” which will be exciting to follow. Nice that those that are less mobile can visit and have great views. I think the planning...More

Thank you for your review. Yes, Pukeiti s sheltered from the southeasterlies that can be a problem in New Plymouth - worth keeping in mind when it's windy in town. Great to hear you appreciate the planning that's going into all the developments at Pukeiti....More

We visited this lovely place at the start of August and were pleased to see the start of the lovely Rhododendrons blooming. Really with a visit to see this place, just wished we were visiting around now as they would be in full bloom.

The garden is a bit sparse in Winter but the giant Rhododendrons are out - they are huge and so worth coming to see. They take this "off season" to re-do paths etc so it's not so easy to get around and the cafe is...More

Well worth visiting for a walk through the beautiful gardens around the lake. Wide, easy paths, lots places to stop and take a moment, ver yattractive, and a dog friendly venue. There is a café; we didn't eat there but it looked very nice.

Hi, I think you must be talking about Pukekura Park. Pukeiti is about 20 minutes drive from the edge of New Plymouth. We don't have a lake and dogs aren't allowed. The remainder of your review could be talking about either place.

Took my friend to Pukeiti as she had never been there and she wants to go again. I hadn't been there since 1975 so it had definitely changed in a big way.

Thanks Helen, yes I'm sure it's changed a lot since 1975! The big leaf rhodos are looking stunning now (mid August) and the main season rhododendrons are just starting. If you get a chance to bring your friend again soon I'd highly recommend it.

Hello yes it will. It reopens to the public on the 1st September. You may book it for private functions during the closed winter period. I hope this helps.
