There is a huge scale model in the room, and informative wall panels. All well constructed. Easy to work your way around. Doesn't take long, and is free.

An interesting experience -especially being able to view the plant nearby. I especially liked the model of the Oil Platform. - A smallish area that packed a lot of information presented in an easy to understand way. Even the Ladies in our group found it enjoyable. Look at their web site to see opening hours.

Great place, as you do your own self guided tour through the centre you can go at your own pace, scale models of the facility which the centre overlooks and the Maui platform. Very interesting for all ages.

The Visitor Centre is located near the town of Opunake, a scant hour's drive from downtown New Plymouth. The centrepiece of this permanent exhibition is the actual scale model that was used during construction of the onshore facilities for processing the liquids arriving by pipeline from the offshore Maui field. Instructive.

I am into science and energy, when in an area, visiting what makes it tick is interesting to me. The scale of the site is quite large. It is all fenced and landscaped. Safety is paramount and must be respected. The Visitors Centre is just off the coast road and has plenty of parking for all size of vehicle. The... More

I am interested in how things work, so it was cool to see the models of the on-shore plant and the maui rig. With your kids it would be of interest to them too if they could think beyond McDonalds:-) Recommended. Somebody noted the siren. The notice outside says it's tested once a week at the same time of day,... More

One of the best places to go and see the whole model for the complex. Easy to explain to kids. Very accessible and can be managed by yourself.
