- Tim K107 contributionsUseful Infor centerInfo center is a block off the eat street, and is in a very interesting building, an old post office, I think. The center has what you need about the area, brochures, maps, etc. and OK helpful people. Next to it is a nice plaza, and garden between it and hte library.Visited March 2023Written April 14, 2023
- dianedinkyDunfermline, United Kingdom734 contributionsTop-notch like all of NZ i-SiteHoused in a beautiful building, this is centrally located and right next to a main bus stop. I didn't require to use the information services as had just popped in to check out the gift shop area. Despite them actually closing up they were happy to let me browse around and make a purchase although the girl had already just cashed up the till. Small but good.Visited February 2023Written June 9, 2023
- happykoabugHonolulu, Hawaii169 contributionsgreat tour organized by I-site Visitor CenterWhat a great resource when visiting Rotorua. I was trying to find a way to get to Wai-o-tapu but most of the companies that use to do day tours to this attraction have disappeared after the pandemic. I emailed the visitor center asking if there was a public bus or shuttle that I could take. They responded with a tour service that they organized. $99 for transportation and admission to the park. The tour departs from the visitor center at 9, returning by 1:30. Lindsy was our shuttle driver and there were 12 passengers for this day. We stopped at the mudpots, then Lady Knox Geyser, and had 2 hours for the larger part of the park where you can choose to do 3 different walks, any combo of the three or all three if you walk reasonably fast. It was a bit confusing at the main park area. You had to show your receipt from i-SITE to get an admission ticket to enter the park so you had to stand in line for this even though you paid beforehand. Once this was cleared up everyone enjoyed this beautiful thermal area. There is a gift shop and café for drinks and snacks. One of the passengers mentioned that they didn’t take cash at the café.Visited April 2023Traveled soloWritten July 6, 2023
- Deanosaur89Edmonton, Canada2,047 contributionsNice Gifts and InformationWe spent more time than expected here checking out the souvenirs they had to offer. Lots of things we could find at other places but we liked the selection of Christmas ornaments and took a couple home with us. It is very clean and set in a very nice building in a central part of town.Visited July 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten July 19, 2023

The building was beautiful, but the service was poor. I had read about the possibility of renting bicycles from a company that would shuttle us to Waimangu Volcanic Valley for a bike ride back to town, but when I asked for information about bike rentals, etc. the kid behind the counter said he didn't know anything about it and then he gave us directions to an ice cream shop instead of a bike shop, causing us to walk for several blocks in the wrong direction for nothing. My husband's experience with the staff was not much better. When he asked about purchasing a fishing license, the woman who waited on him was extremely rude, as if we had no right to ask for her assistance. Every other i-SITE we visited during our two-month stay in NZ was friendly and helpful, but not this one. The only reason I didn't rate it "terrible" is because the building was so beautiful.

Rotorua i-SITE Visitor Information Centre is located in a beautifully restored historic building close to the centre of the city. The staff at the I-Site centre were extremely knowledgeable of the local and extended area as with other I-Sites in NZ and were able to deal calmly with the hoards of tourists descending on them. The building is also the main stop in Rotorua for InterCity where there are good bathroom facilities and a decent waiting area for departing buses.

In the era of Covid-19, there was no pressure on staff and we found they had all the time in the world to help. Located in a stunning old building it is a spacious visitors centre and the team very helpful.

I went there for maps and suggestions all,of which can be found in abundance. Friendly information officers at the counter. And a curio and souvenir shop with a large and quite unique selection of NZ-handmade items. Bought several Maori steel jewelry and small wooden boxes with pearl inlays. Glad that I did because I never came about the same items at other places.

So relieved I stopped in the i-SITE Visitor Center. It is conveniently located next to the bus transfer area and is in a building that is a true landmark—seen from nearly everywhere helping orient me in my walks around the area. The staff was extraordinarily helpful in selecting events and tours, explaining these in detail so I knew what I could expect. Nice gift shop as well!

Do you have an email address please. I would like brochures on the main attractions in/ around Rotorua. We are accompanying friends from Scotland in late Feb and have 2 days in Rotorua. We are already booked in to Waitomo caves and Hobbiton so don't need info on those.

Trip Advisor won't allow me to put their email address in this reply. It is on the Rotorua i-site website. I Have you been in to Palmerston North i-site? They do have some information about other ares there too.
