Ordinary but nice. The walk around the Blue Lake is a nice gentle piece of exercise while on holiday and if we lived here we would probably walk (a couple of circuits at a time) from time to time. There is little or no evidence of bird life and there are few good views of the lake. The bush does smell good though. Having been so insipid so far I must add I find the Blue lake water and beach environment just fabulous. We have spent days lounging on the beach and swimming round the buoys and can highly recommend to anyone who enjoys warm clear lake water.

An easy walk on a well maintained track with beautiful scenery. I found the continuous noise of many jetskis to significantly detract from the experience. There was little if any bird song, maybe the bird life had gone to find a quieter more peaceful location.

Great Lake walk. My wife and I walked with our 2yo daughter. She wasn’t able to walk the whole way but I had our backpack and carried her for some if the way. It took us about 2hrs with stops for snacks and ‘toddler pace’ walking. Our total walk time was 1.5hrs. We had a n enjoyable lunch by the lake from the Airstream cafe with coffee and chicken nuggets and chips. The coffee was also very good

The path goes all the way around the lake, and takes almost an hour. It is not strenuous, but it is not all flat either. The lake is pretty, tho best viewed for its blueness from the green lake/blue lake lookout. The rainforest is very itneresting, full of odd ferns and huge trees. Ice cream near the dock. All good.

My goodness this place, and Green lake are special. The walking track around this lake is so fun. It started to rain and we just ducked under the trees and were kept warm. I love the fact that they have one area that you can see both lakes. Green Lake is a sacred lake and they just do so much with the beautiful nature that they have around there.

Loved this easy hike around the beautiful Blue Lake. We had a wide range of ages in our group and all managed it without difficulty. There were some mountain bikers coming the opposite direction which was a tight squeeze, but mostly there was plenty of space. Lots of lovely places to stop for photos and plenty of shade under the bush, which we appreciated on a very hot NZ Summer day.

Amazing short walk. I have done this as a child and it had been nearly 25 years since I had visited the Blue Lake. It was wonderful to come back and do it again. It is an easy track, having been 7 months pregnant when I did it, no problems.

Visited this track for a loop 5-6km run one morning. The track isn't the easiest for a morning run, running through trees with branches that have grown onto the track and not the flattest terrain. Still enjoyable with a challenge and stunning view. Fantastic for a walk, good for a run if you're up for it

I have been lucky enough to have travelled the world, through work and vacation. What I will say is that the walk around the lake is way up with the best. It is peaceful, bird life not included! It is an absolutely wonderful location and I was so lucky to have had a fabulous day to do the 1.5 hour stroll! Mustn't hurry it of course. The lake is a jewel in the Rotorua area.

Such a beautiful spot.
Recommend doing this when in the region.
Park at the Blue/Green lakes lookout and go from there.
Steep walk to and from lake but only for a few minutes so family friendly.
Didn’t do the whole walk but the section we did was beautiful with good lake access.
