You can see boiling lake and also smell sulphur from the ground. Take a walk in the morning is recommended.

It really is a beautiful lake and has some great day walks, even going through some thermal areas. Loads of parks and picnic spots along the shore.

Did a big walk around the edge of the lake and it was really lovely. You get the see all the steam vents and bubbling mud along the way as well, plus all the birdlife. Good walking track, well maintained.

We spent the sunset by the Rotorua lake. The scenery was awesome though the temperature was quite low (at 1C). Highly recommend to spend some time by the lake.

The walk around Lake Rotorua is amazing. Not only is it free but you get to take in the unique birds, flora and fauna at the lake. Parts of the lake have geothermal activity, very unique. Highly recommended
