We spent a great morning wandering round the lake - lots of birds to see and great views. Play park and toilets very handy. Paths clearly marked.

two mornings with lovely gravel path walks. one day from government gardens going north, in the early pre-dawn sufficient lights to be comfortable, through bush and park and board walk. the second morning from government gardens in the dawn light through manuka bush and fuming steam with good information panels.

It's a beautiful collapsed volcanic lake in a peaceful setting. Walking paths surround the lake and the story and area are delightful.

It is a cool spot even if you do decide not to undertake any activities, for people with young kids, there is a handy playground and swings.

What can you say about a lake? I just love Lake Rotorua from Ohinemutu Village right round past the Airport to Mourea, then through to Hamurana and on to Ngongotaha. Some wonderful spots for photos across the lake.
