We have been several times before, this time was a day trip with a group of families. Bought family pass with gondola and 5 luge rides for $200, good value for money however with the queues took several hours to work through. We arrived at 10 am and left at 3.00 pm, so if you want to do them quickly I highly recommend going up first thing- 8.00am. You could be done by 10.00 am easy. There is a really long queue for the first ride of the day and then shorter for your other rides. I love the Intermediate track. A visit to the Jellybean store is a must, you can select 20 packets for $15.
One of the challenges we had up there was lack of food options if you are keto - there is only carb loaded food so if you don’t do sugar and carbs you need to take your own food and drink to be prepared.

We got a deal on book me.com for $58 which for an adult was a return gondola trip & the buffet dinner at Stratosphere. Dinner was amazing!!! Fantastic views from up the top. Luge was fun & we were lucky to get there just on 5pm when the “Night Luge” rides for $8 started. I felt $16 during the day for 1x ride would be quite a rip off as only takes a couple of minutes to get down to the bottom. Under 5s free on the Gondola & Buffet which was great. Would recommend going up around 4.30 to take advantage of the $8 luge rides and in the winter you could watch the sunset.

It’s worth it it just to get the gondola up to the top, awesome views of the city and lake Rotorua. The restaurant was also great, really good buffet food. But the luge is the best part. Never done anything like it before but bloody hell it was fun!
The only bad part was missing out on doing the Skyswing. Despite buying a ticket for it, it was closed early for no reason. We got our money back but still heaps disappointed. Also, be aware they won’t sell tickets for the luge 15 before they close. Despite signage saying open til 8pm, we lined up for a ticket at around 7.50pm and weren’t able to have another go. One very disappointed kid with me at the time, so plan ahead!

A small theme park at the top of a hill which should have something for everyone.
It was raining on the day we went, which meant the views from the gondola and at the top were not great- although the cloud lifted slightly at times to tantalize us with what we were missing. The rain didn't deter many other people and it was very crowded at the top. Most people seemed to buy combination tickets with luge rides. This is great fun and kids talker than 135cm can go on the ski-lift back up on their own. There are lockers up the top, but if you only have a small bag you should be OK.
Other activities include zip line, wine tasting, nature walks (which we didn't do) and a giant swing (which my daughter did do). Quite a pricey day, so look around for online vouchers or combo offers.
My only gripe is that the luge queuing areas and the cafe were not designed for the numbers of people that were there with paths and thoroughfares being too narrow.

Admittedly I screamed on the gondola ride, but it was breathtaking. $24 takes an adult up and back on the gondola with incredible views of Lake Rotorua. A little unnerving as the gondolas do not stop. You board and exit as the gondola moves along. For most, this is part of the fun of the ride. A bit scary for others. Once you get to the top, there is seating to take in the view, food and wine, gift shop and jellybean store.
Besides the gondola ride, there is a luge track and chair lift ride for the luge. There is also a giant multi person swing which looked super fun but heard lots of screaming coming from it. There are packages which include lunch or dinner and wine. You can also get a package of souvenir photos for $35 to remember the experience. Fun for kids and folks old and young. Enjoy!

What an amazing review. Thank you for taking the time to write it. I bet you would come away with an amazing video from the Skyswing!! Esp if you screamed on the Gondola ;)

Situated on the main highway north to Hamilton near the city boundary, the skyline offers panoramic views back to the city and across Lake Rotorua. When at the skyline terminus you can go to observation decks for great views. A restaurant is located there which is popular both during the day but also for moderately priced buffet dinners

My wife and I went for dinner and to be there as Rotorua lit up for the night. Be aware the wine tasting choice finishes at 6pm so don't arrive at 5.45pm and expect to include it as I had. The gondola ride is smooth and takes under 10"; however be selective in the pod you choose. Some are well worn and don't offer clear views. Just politely stand back and let others through until you see one that has clear/clean glass. The buffet dinner has an extensive range from starters to dessert and excellent quality. Food is well presented and regularly replaced. It is very popular even on a Tuesday night when I went so recommend you book. Not all activities are always operating so suggest you call ahead to ensure your interest is catered for.

We purchased a dinner/luge ride combo and used the luge rides the morning before we had dinner at the Stratosfare. While I rated the Stratosfare excellent, the luge was a bit of a let down. We thought that a week day would be quiet compared to weekend but with at least 3 schools there meant a long wait in line. We didn’t bother to use our last luge ride as it wasn’t worth it. The rides themselves are good and tracks are a decent length. It’s a shame that with the length of the lines it still wasn’t worth opening the 2nd chairlift and 2nd luge entrance.

Thank you very much for your review. We do get a few school groups through at this time of year. Fortunately they do seem to get their Luge rides done very quickly. Great to hear you had an amazing time!

A return visit with my now 16 year old son. Third time in five years. The luge never fails to please. Reasonably priced meals and drinks are an added bonus in a tourist hot spot like this. A must visit place in Rotorua.

Great fun on the luge followed up with a wine tasting at Volcanic Hills. We have a 12 month gondola pass which is great value for money as the luge rides are half price. Plenty of food options at the top and the Jelly Bean store is always a hit with the kids. Totally recommend 👌
