This is a simply wonderful building combining history, culture and drama. The cinema provides history and drama! Do this first, you won't regret it! The whole building is a gem, even the basement (unless your very little - wear the hard hats!). We were lucky that the roof top viewing area was open - superb views across Rotorua. Best value.... We learnt heaps about Rotorua going here, heaps of stories to tell in a very interactive and engaging way with lots of video and audio. The man telling the stories was way mor passionate than reading it off a sign, so well done there. We went on the roof- take thick shoes if you're going on a hot day! The... More

Start your visit with the short film showing in the theatre to the left of the entrance and look out for the surprise. The history of the baths is really interesting and the view from the roof top terrace is quite spectacular. On the right of the entrance is a fascinating history of the local Maori people including food, customs,... More

This museum is a interesting place as it explains the history of the Native in the area as well as the history of the Bath house. However I was disappointed that there was no subtitles for the Deaf and people who speak English as a Second Language on their video. If this was provided it would had make it easier... More

This is a great place to visit as it shows you the history of what the museum used to be, a bath house where people use to come for treatments in the healing waters. It has a little movie you can watch and is really interesting. It has lovely grounds and is well worth a visit.

The Maori history is well explained as is the arrival of the Europeans. The building was a Health Spa... look at the baths on the ground floor and also in the basement before climbing up to the roof for a great view of the gardens!

The Old Bath House is now a museum for local Natives and on the history of the Bath House, And there is a movie room show what happened in the 1880's Volcano eruption with shaking seats, Interesting. $20 entrance fee. There is a walking track behind(free)the building that take you around a thermal lake.

The $20 admission charge set my expectations pretty high and unfortunately I was disappointed. The movie was well done but the remaining displays lacked substance. Te Papa and the Auckland museum are way better so if you will have the chance to visit either of these pass on the Roturua Museum.
