We visited during the day to see the tropical birds, and returned after sunset to see the elusive Kiwis. We tried in other cities to see Kiwis during the day behind dark glass, but Rainbow Springs has the best way of viewing -- by visiting after nightfall in a large open aviary. We stayed for an hour and loved watching... More

My partner and I requested this as she is Swedish and wanted to see a kiwi, we did :), and she was so happy. The rest of the park seemed smaller than I remembered from when I was younger but still fantastic, I liked that the aviary can be walked through it is nice to be able to see birds... More

We had been to a Maori park and been in a kiwi enclosure before but really had not seen the one bird they had there so we were very keen to visit this park which has a Kiwi Encounter. It is part of a conservation programme throughout New Zealand which is doing great work in ensuring a safer and better... More

Have been many times before but still a great outing with the kids. Loved feeding the trout and seeing the bird show. Log ride was fun even if the youngest thought it was scary (she still did it twice). Relaxing day and not too busy.

Came here after spending time the morning next door. Kids loved it. Lots of wildlife, a fun park, food for all to enjoy & a water ride. Great arvo spent with the family whilst holidaying in Rotorua.

We loved seeing and finding out about all the animals. We especially liked the morepork owl. One of the keepers took ten minutes to talk to us about it, and was incredibly helpful. In fact all the staff were informative, friendly and helpful. The kiwi encounter was one of the highlights and we got to see two kiwis, which was... More

Our family went along to an awesome evening, wasn't sure what to expect, not into crawly things but it wasn't scary and we all had a fab night. We were able to chill and have some drinks while the kids played the various large sized games on the grass. The meal was 5 courses served during the evening and all... More

Came here again and kids thoroughly enjoyed seeing all the animals - esp the bird show and the big splash. Makes for an expensive day out for a family but this time we came back in the evening too see the park in a different light to get our money's worth!

Some interesting native species and a few interlopers. Plenty of flora and fauna, particularly birds and fish. Kiwi house may be a little disappointing, the chances of you seeing the kiwi is not that great, but you have to try.

can't say this one felt like value for money. The exhibits were good, but there just aren't that many of them. Café food was good and price for food wasn't too bad. Loved the water ride. The attendants should probably tell people about spray jackets, or a sign put up to say they were available (not that I needed or... More
