Tamaki Maori Village – Evening Cultural Experience. New Zealand’s Most Awarded Cultural Experience! Experience an evening of ceremonial ritual, powerful cultural performance, storytelling & hangi feasting. The village comes alive with sights, sounds & activity of days gone by including haka, poi, tattooing, weaving, carving and arts of warrior training. You will have the opportunity to participate in these activities. Witness the earth being scraped away from the hangi pit to reveal baskets of food cooked beneath the ground on hot stones. Enter the ancestral meeting house and enjoy a powerful cultural performance before dining the traditional hangi buffet feast!

A great place to learn about the Maori culture. We'd been to NZ before but found this to be much more informative than previous ones. We had fun from start to finish and came away feeling a love for the Tamaki tribe and their culture. Great entertainment, loved the singing and dances. The hungi meal was really well done and... Great experience from the minute we were picked up at our hotel until we were left back to our hotel approximately 3 hours later. We experienced the Maori culture first hand through being given the chance to partake in Maori activities. Food was lovely as was the entertainment. Highly recommended!

You cannot leave this Maori experience the same. The explanations of their culture, their entertainment, their cooking, their accessibility and just plain fun and up beat attitude should not be missed.

Great cultural experience and dinner. I highly recommend. Food was excellent. The show was wonderful. I would have rated it a 5 but our driver tried too hard to be funny and got us stopped by the police for acting foolishly. Took away from an excellent experience.

Well worth the ticket price! I've been to NZ 4 times, but never experienced anything as culturally fascinating as this. A truly unique Maori experience, you can see the care and pride thats gone into piecing this show together. The guides are with you the whole time as you wander through the village, learning about the history and life of... More

This was the best visit of my 3 months in NZ. I mean sure, the south island is better overall, without comparison. However Tamaki village was the best single attraction I went to in NZ and I could not recommend it more to anyone! I went as part of the Kiwi Experience bus. 10/10

Bus guide was excellent and made the trip there and back part of the whole experience, embracing the many cultures in attendance. The whole experience was very educational, social and cultural. Well paced to keep the evening moving and finished at a reasonable time. The person leading the night was excellent in all aspects. Thanks for the great experience.

The tour to the village was very informative on the Maori history, food and culture. The tour opened with a war canoe coming up the river filled with Maori warriors chanting war cries. We visited a village and learned how the Maori lived, then a show with songs and dance, followed by a Maori Buffet and finishing up with a... More
