About
The experience of rolling down a hill inside a giant inflatable ball has been an iconic adventure experience since ZORB was invented at this very location way back in 1997! To this day, Rotorua is the ONLY location in New Zealand where you can experience this amazingly fun and bizarre bucket list activity. Please note as of 17 May 2019, ZORB Rotorua was recently purchased back by the original inventors of ZORB (Andrew and Dave Akers) the old ZORB site at 149 Western Road, Rotorua has been permanently closed and our new site (previously known as OGO Rotorua) and is undertaking a rebrand back to ZORB. Please bear in mind when reading old reviews! As the inventors and creators of ZORB, we are excited to have our brand back and our mission is to give every single customer world class customer service, health and safety and value for money when experiencing the ridiculous hilarity that is rolling down a hill in a giant inflatable ball.

- JamiSeattle, Washington21 contributionsDon’t be scared. It’s fun! Really fun!!If you like water slides, you will love Zorbing. It’s a bit pricey, so extend your time by soaking in the hot tubs and watching other people come down. And if there’s a line at the top, let other people go first and enjoy the view. There is a little terrace with a tub ( the tub wasn’t open. Maybe it’s only open when it’s busier) up there , and you can look out over Rotorua and watch the other riders start their roll. We did the straight track with two inside first. Wheeeeee! Then we did the Sidewinder separately. I laid on my back and held my knees so I was spinning around inside. Whoo hoooo! I got some water up my nose. But I didn’t care! So don’t be scared. Just go do it already!Visited October 2023Traveled with familyWritten October 6, 2023
- Eric N26 contributionsPricey, but awesome fun!Definitely a pricey experience, but a whole lotta fun! 28F & 28M couple and went in hesitant but thoroughly enjoyed the experience! It was actually way more fun than we expected! If you can afford it, definitely recommend!Visited November 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten November 16, 2023
- TrolloloAuckland Central, New Zealand140 contributionsGreat for kids and adultsDefinitely recommend for both adults and kids. My 6 year old tried all 3 rides (in a zrob with an adult, not by himself) and keeps asking to come back for more. The basic ride is actually one of the better ones.Visited December 2023Traveled with familyWritten December 30, 2023
- TravelReviewerAuckland, New Zealand98 contributionsGreat fun!Located on Mount Ngongotaha you arrive and show the workers at the front desks your tickets. Very quickly you are shown to a changing room (if you haven't changed into your togs yet. I think people outside NZ would call togs a 'Bathing Suit'). If, however, you are already changed prior to arrival you will be shown straight to a queue where you wait for a mini-van to bring you up to the hill. There are many different tracks that you can ZORB on. I personally like the Sidewinder track the best and would very much recommend it.Visited January 2024Traveled with familyWritten January 8, 2024
- HeidiNambour, Australia9 contributionsFun but hectic!2 adults and 2 tweens. We laughed so hard lot and had fun. The hot tubs were SO GOOD for us frozen aussies although we didn’t realise you have to sit cold on the benches to line up for the car that drives you up the hill. It would have been great to have a bit of guidance on the different tracks and what is good to do in your ride. 3 of us went in one and my husband’s legs pinned mine down so I did the whole sidewinder flat on my back, laughing and taking in water - I can see how you can drown in 30cm of water! and the water knocking my contacts around! One smart son went by himself - although, we did have fun! We all enjoyed racing the straight track more so and wished we’d known - we would have done that one again instead of the sidewinder. It’s pricey but a good thing to tick off your bucket list!Visited January 2024Traveled with familyWritten January 13, 2024
- Jordan S24 contributionsFun but expensiveWe arrived an hour early as an earlier activity ended sooner than expected, the team fit us in straight away, and we got straight up and into the Mega Track Zorb. It was 2 minutes of chaos, slipping around in the ball, being pelted with water and not knowing which way is up. However we also couldn't stop laughing, it felt like we were travelling so fast and it was a lot of fun. However I probably wouldn't do it again now, as it's very expensive for a very short experience.Visited January 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten January 21, 2024
- MouzourisDetroit, Michigan2,095 contributionsLots of funThis was the first thing we did in Rotorua. A lot of fun. Very flexible on scheduling as the line if any moves along pretty fast. You can store your stuff on an open locker so I wouldn’t keep any valuables with you other than clothes/ towels that we brought with us. Parking is a few feet away so easy to get to if needed. Then a van drives you up the hill about a minute if that and then in you go !!! Highly recommended specially with kids. You get a small discount if you book it thru Rotorua canopy tours if you’re planing doing the zip lines also.Visited April 2024Traveled with familyWritten April 9, 2024
- Melinda N1 contributionHaving a ‘ball’ of a timeWhat an amazing ride. A huge thank you to Mel & her team for making this adventure so enjoyable. I was a bit apprehensive as I have a sore knee and my friend had a sore neck / shoulder but Mel was so understanding and explained how it worked so we were confident to make the decision to do it. Boy were we glad we did. We had an absolutely ball, excuse the pun. Thank you Mel and team for looking after us. It was absolutely wonderful and so much fun. 11/10 ❤️Visited July 2024Traveled with friendsWritten August 23, 2024

It's novel fun but way overpriced. As this is the only place to place to Zorb in New Zealand then you must pay.
My frustration is that you paid $125NZ for 3 goes for each person. If two or more of those people went in the same Zorb they gave up a full ride/band for that. While it shouldn't be free it's rich to charge the exact same for one zorb ball with two people as the same as two zorb balls being used which requires more labour and materials and handling.
Kids still loved it but it was sooo expensive.

I had bought a book me voucher for my daughter to do the straight and sidewinder at Zorb. However, the night before, my daughter fell really sick with a tummy bug and was not able to do the rides.
After writing to Zorb explaining the situation and asking if a refund was possible, I was surprised to receive a mail from them stating they will refund the full amount.
Having gone through a 3rd party to get my tickets and due to the last minute cancellation- i didnt expect Zorb to be so considerate. Hats off to the team for being considerate and compassionate. Not many businesses these days are.

I’d seen these large balls rolling down a hill over the week I’d visited Rotorua and thought “that looks kind of fun” and kept driving. After doing every other activity I could I visited ZORB Rotorua. So glad I did. The experience was awesome! Faster experience than they look, staff was great. Highly recommended.

My friend and I decided to give Zorb a try, and it was absolutely awesome! They have a variety of packages, and we chose one with two tracks. They put hot tub water in the balls, since it was cold out the day we went. They also have a couple of hot tubs you can sit when you’re waiting between runs. One of the workers took great photos of our runs and we ended up buying the photos afterwards. This was one of the highlights of my trip!

Unfortunately we only done the straight course. If we were to do it again we would probably do all 3 courses. It was great fun and we laughed all the way down. Only issue was the water was near boiling when I jumped into the zorb. Got a shock and slightly burned so had to jump back out quickly. The guy apologised saying he should have checked it and that we were first of the day and put some cold water in. Apart from this great fun.

Oh my god, this is way more fun than it looks. Seen it before and skipped it, this time we went for 3 rides and ended up doing another 2 because we couldn’t decide which was the best.
Well worth it, thanks heaps ZORB crew.

We hadn't planned on doing this initially, but ended up going on a whim. And we sure did not regret it! Each of the tracks is a wild way to roll down a hill. My wife and I didnt stop laughing and hollering the whole time we were there.

You sure can! You’ll need to leave any attachments behind (head or chest harnesses or selfie sticks) ... but the guys on site will show you how to get the best footage while holding it in your hand.

If you get tickets through Bookme.nz, do you have to go during a specific time of day, or can you use the tickets any time during that day?
Written April 26, 2018
You can go there anytime during the day, but I suggest you check their open hour from OGO Rotorua page on TripAdvisor. It's different at different season.

Hi there, my husband and I with our 18mo son will be coming through late September. Obviously our son is far too small. But, if he is with us, is it workable that Dad goes first, then we child swap and I have a go? I'm not sure of the set up. Thank you.
Written July 22, 2016
Hi AnitaJ387 ... As Marla correctly says; it would be no problem for you and your husband to swap child caring duties while you each ride. Alternatively we have a number of staff on site who LOVE children. If you and your son are comfortable with them, you would be welcome to ride together while one of them looks after him.
