If you're lucky enough to grab supplies from nearby Rotorua why not picnic amongst these giant trees. Apparently some where planted back in the late 1800's as an experiment to see how suitable Californian redwoods were for timber. There are canopy walks which take you in the heart of the forest you can view up or down. Get your maps... More

Nice different tracks for hiking, running and you find bike tracks as well. It's very nice to walk in this beautiful forest. As a tourist in Rotorua I recommend to do a visit! For backpackers you can walk to The forest or take the bus witch is easy and cheap 👌🏽

Coming from South Australia we simply don't have anything like this where I come from so I still find these sorts of forests completely magical and unreal. Like something out of a film. If you don't go for a walk, a run or a bike ride through here when you're in Rotorua you're nuts. I suppose there are more spectacular... More

The best single track network in NZ. All grades of mountain bike tracks with good signposting and uphill shuttle bus for tired legs. Get the Trailmaps Rotorua App in preference to the paper map.

A great cultural experience. To see a "living" village was great and seeing food being cooked in hot pools, vegetable gardens and lots of other cultural activities in real life was great

Impressive views from the tallest trees i have ever seen. Go when there is sun light to have a better experience because it can get dark and cold late in the afternoon.

The new tree-top walk is amazing, about 25 metres high, you walk along a sturdy platform to be among the trees. The walk is 500 metres long and takes between 45 and 60 minutes. It is awesome being among the trees. You can look down, along and upwards, well worth doing if you are in the area. There are also... More

This place is amazing, beautiful scenery and all free, there are several different walks you can do, from 30mins to a couple of hours, well worth stopping in and having a look.

What a great place to visit among all these giant trees. The park is well kept and air is so fresh that you can feel it as you breath in. A must visit.

Definitely worth a stop. You can choose the length of your hike through the forest. The trees are amazing. The gift shop is very reasonable and were the lowest prices we saw for most items.
