It is a pity we took the 30 minute hike through the forest. Looks mystical and magical. The trees are huge, forest dense & vegetation amazing. It was a cold, rainy day but we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. There are longer treks available as well from 1 hour to a day. Do consider if you have the time & energy. The... More

I went to the Redwoods twice while in Rotorua. It's about a 45-50 minute walk from the centre of Rotorua, or a much shorter drive. The Redwoods themselves are beautiful, they provide a quiet haven of nature just outside a city that is famed for its tourist-focused attitude. There is a walking track for everyone - from half an hour... More

We visited the forest walk. The male old was not keen on the tree top walk, so it was up to Nana with the 5 year old. We had a wonderful time. The notices along the way are very informative. We felt safe walking along the various bridges.

I was a bit concerned about being so high up and if I would be fit enough to climb up to the rope bridges. But, everything was safe, enjoyable, and within my below average fitness capacity. I don't think its suitable for strollers or those with mobility issues though.

Great any time of year! We live in Rotorua and enjoy this walk/run/bike forest all of the time. Great for kids and has walks of varying lengths and difficulties.

I visited the Redwoods Forest to take advantage of the numerous walking trails available. I did the Mokopuna Trail which is a family friendly loop of 3.6km and clearly marked. At 83 I had no trouble handling the rambling route and by following the signs. The walkways are also cycling trails and there are signs advising cyclists to take care.... More

We had looked forward to visiting the forest....however we saw no signage and the brochure was vague at best. We did eventually find a carpark full of mountain bikers.....still not sure whether this is where we were meant to be or not. You need to look closely at the little signs on the trails to see whether you are permitted... More
