Only accessible by boat, this thermal springs give you a quiet private hot bath, if you happen to go on a good day when there are no crowds.
3 TIPS TO ENJOY YOUR STAY.
1. Call ahead of your trip to know if the day you plan to go in is full of people.
2. The pools have different temperatures (from warm, to hot, to steaming hot!). Know your body tolerance and find the right intensity for you.
3. They have a cafe and area to eat in, bring some snacks or easy-to-prepare meals.

We arrived here by kayak, 1.5 hours from Okere Falls. There are several pools right on the lake shore with different temperatures. Several were too hot for us but others looked happy enough. There are toilets and changing rooms and a $15 pp charge (less for children). I saw they do a deal for multiple visits.
There are several jettys for larger boats to tie up, including one large catamaran. They also have a designated swimming area in the lake and direct the boats away from that. There is a swimming platform anchored a little off shore and a slide into the water from a jetty.

Boarded the Cat for the 45 rminute trip to these remote hot pools. Changing rooms, 6 small pools ( for 6/8 people) plus the warm lake! Varying temperatures of water, not too smelly.

This magical spot on Lake Rotoiti is an amazing place to spend a hour, a morning or a whole day. A great place for babies to grandparents.

These lovely thermal springs are only able to be accessed by boat - and are all the better for it.
If you are lucky you will be the only people there and can sit in absolute bliss on the side of the lake in lovely healing waters. Can get very busy holiday weekends etc

GREAT SPOT - SHOCKING PRICES
You would think with covid19 economic crisis now hitting our country, prices for using natural resources could get a little cheaper or at least remain stable. Sadly not!
The place is truly great and the friendly local managers are doing a fantastic job in maintaining the place. It is really worth buying a $595 yearly pass, but only if you live locally all year or spend the entire summer on the lake with a big family.
Unfortunately, for many people we know and in most other cases, especially for young couples, it has now become a true luxury (adding to the cost of running their own boat).
If you are retired, it is now totally inaccessible. The pool owners (We believe to be a local Maori Trust) have, year after year, constantly increased the access prices making it now a destination exclusively reserved for the wealthy. They do not even offer a discount for students or retired pensioners...
5 stars for the spot, sadly 1 star for their non social-friendly pricing policy.

Loved the location loved the hot pools loved the dip in the lake and swimming back to the hot pool... absolutely disappointed we paid for 3 adults and 3 kids paid over $100+ only to find Atleast 20 people adults and kids all walked in for free without paying!!! Mixture of tourists and locals from off their boats!!! Rotoiti hotpools need a system where your wearing a paid hotpools coloured bracelet - then checks within the pools can be more definitive- as paid customers will be wearing paid bracelets.

Hi there, we are so glad you enjoyed your time here at Lake Rotoiti Hot Pools. Rest assured, our local visitors aren't able to walk in for free -- those holding season passes have stickers on their boats which we check from our office. Apologies for the confusion. We can assure you that our payment system is tried and true and no one gets in for free. All the best and hope to see you again someday.

We recently visited the hot pools and had a great day - the facilities have been upgraded a lot since I last visited. Highly recommended. We left my son's sandals behind and didn't really expect to ever see them again. I phoned and Cath could not have been more helpful and even arranged to get them posted back to me in Tauranga at no cost. We we really stoked with this - so nice to when people go above and beyond to help. Thanks again Cath.

Can only get there by boat but well worth the trip. The hosts Cath & Reece are always welcoming. There are 6 pools to choose from so you can find the right temperature for you. Plus there is always the lake to jump in to cool down. Love this spot, My uncle and Aunty used to take me there as a kid and now it is better than ever.
