Lake Waikaremoana , well worth the effort

Having previously "tramped" the Routeburn Track and Northern Tongariro(11/10) off my own back I thought I would spoil myself for my 6oth and have a guided walk. The Lake... read more

Bjorn our guide was great company. He had good knowledge of the area which we hiked in. The 4 days were good, loved the walk to the Pinnacles. We did spend a lot of time driving in the van because of the distance of home base to the tracks which we walked. The food was very tasty and good variety.... More

Having previously "tramped" the Routeburn Track and Northern Tongariro(11/10) off my own back I thought I would spoil myself for my 6oth and have a guided walk. The Lake Waikaremoana Great Walk was suggested and I eventually booked the trip through Walking Legends. The booking process was easy and very helpful in ensuring all things were planned. I was greeted... More

This is the 2nd hiking trip I've taken with Walking Legends. After my last excellent experience I took the plunge & went for "Bucket List" trip which took us to 3 outstanding hiking venues on the North Island: 4 days on the Coromandel Peninsula, 4 on the Waikaremoana track (one of New Zealand's "great walks") and 3 at Tongariro National... Did the guided tour cross the Tongariro. WL picked us up as arranged and all timing was great. Unfortunately we must admit that the guide was not the best match for us. I think the age disparity and shape difference can explain it. But the company can be recommended and especially the walk

This was a most awesome walk. The scenery, the walk, the whole ambiance was amazing. What made it one of the best adventures ever was the staff. Sam, raleigh, pere were the best. They made everyone feel comfortable and ensured that all had a great time. If you want to do a walking adventure with a guided group. This is... More

We booked this trek as part of our holiday to New Zealand and we where not disappointed. Our guide Brad was fantastic and also a really nice guy. The accommodation at coromandel was to a very high standard would recommend paying get extra for en suite. The walks are well paced and include some awesome coastline views. If you want... More

My husband was so excited to hike mount doom. We did lots of research and prepared the best we could. Advice: Give yourself plenty of time. Take LOTS of water. Bring lunch and food for along the way. We went through 2 boxes of granola bars, 3 liters of water each, plus lunch. Pack warm clothes for the top of... More

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our 4 days on this beautiful hike. The weather was perfect and our walking companions were a lovely group of people from a diverse and interesting range of backgrounds. This was our second 'tramp' with Walking Legends who once again provided an outstanding wilderness experience. Our walking guides Sam and Peri (who manned the... More

Walking Legends is an excellent choice for providing a "carefree" wilderness experience in the remote and beautiful Te Ureweras-Lake Waikaremoana area. Booking the trip was easy and everything was well organized from beginning to end. Sam and Bjorn were fun, friendly and knowledgeable guides providing some history of the area as well as teaching us about some of the edible... More
