The Full Day Adventure with Stephen of Real Rotorua was a great way to spend a day just off the beaten track in and around Rotorua. If you don't have a vehicle, but want to get away from the regular tourist spots, this is the tour for you. The small group tour, and Stephen's great guiding make you feel like you're travelling with a friend. The tour is well paced, and both the morning and the afternoon tours include a few nice walks that would be suitable for almost anyone. Don't hesitate to take this tour if you're looking to get out and explore the Real Rotorua!

Thank you for joining me on the Lakes tour and the Thermal path tour, you got to see a side of Rotorua that even some locals do not know. Nice to hear you enjoyed it.

This was an incredible experience, way beyond what we were expecting. Stephan obviously knows these woods really well. He showed us everything from waterfalls, spiders, ferns, trees to wallabies and possums, and glowworms, of course. He had tons of information about the things he showed us and the history of the area. He was very funny in a lowkey way. I can't recomend this enough. It's something my husband and I will always remember.

Steve provided us with an interesting, light hearted and insightful trip. Without a guide like Steve we would have missed out on so many things. I would highly recommend him to anyone who not only wants to see the volcanic features of the area, but also learn about the flora and fauna and also explain some of the local history. Great trip which we would recommend to anyone.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Stephen and the tour I took of New Zealand wilderness. I was the only one on the tour, which typically is awkward and unpleasant (and for this tour, rare), but Stephen was a wonderful and easy person to talk to. I learned so much about the region and it's ecosystem. He is really dedicated to caring for the environment and also providing the best quality experience for guests. I loved the walk through the woods at night, saw an abundance of wallabies, possums, stunning plants, fungi, thankfully minimal insects, except for of course, incredible glowworms. Stephen took the most stunning photos of and for me and I am extremely grateful for the experience. I highly recommend it to everyone. He has a fantastic eye for capturing images, knowledge and passion for the environment and continually works to upgrade his lighting and other equipment to provide an extremely high quality experience for guests.

This is an absolute must-do experience in Rotorua. Stephen is a highly knowledgeable, super friendly guide whose encyclopedic knowledge of the land, history and volcanic activity in the area is fascinating! My sister and I loved every minute of this trip and really recommend this experience to everyone. We also loved the hot chocolate provided by Rosita! This was the second time I'd been on this tour with Stephen - I took this tour in June 2019 and now I'm October 2022 and both times were equally amazing and informative!

Stephen is the best! His enthusiasm for nature is why his personal tours of the rainforest created a beautiful experience. We never felt rushed by the next tour behind us because there was none. Stephen cares so much that we feel the same wonder about glow worms and several other examples of animals, trees, and visual delights. We highly recommend the experience as the very best way to enjoy nature.

A really enjoyable experience. Both my wife and I are in our seventies and my wife requires the use of a walking stick - we still managed to do the entire walk! We enjoyed Stephen’s upbeat and fresh humour and his knowledge and experience of the flora and fauna around Rotoroa. His enthusiasm for all things illuminated was delightful.
We would definitely do another tour with Stephen and would highly recommend his glow worm tour!

We did the thermal areas tour with Stephen who gave up his planned day off to take us to places that i doubt we would have found ourselves even if we'd had a hire car. he gave us the geological background to the area as we went to gloopy mud pools, the thermal areas in town and finished with a swim in hot mineral water having visited the source. thoroughly recommended

Steve gave us a fantastic stroll around the forest.
He talked about the plants, wildlife and of course the glowworms. I had heard about it via someone else's recommendation and was not disappointed.
There were only 9 of us and the evening ended with delicious hot chocolate and biscuits.
I would highly recommend this tour.

We booked the glow worm tour with Stephen. We had an amazing night. We first got to see a beautiful sunset. After that Stephen took us to a trail that leads to a beautiful wall full of glow worms (as he likes to say: " a galaxy full of glow worms"! It was truly magical. He knows not only a lot about the glow worm, but also about all the flora and fauna surrounding it. And he is happy and very excited/motivated to share all that information. And on the plus side: he took some amazing fotos of us in the forest.

Hello. I am interested in the Nocturnal Guided Walking Tour but I am traveling solo. When I try to book, it only let's me select for 2 or more people. Is it not possible to book unless I have a group?

hi depending on which tour you select as to how far we travel by vehicle but all tours involve a reasonable amount of walking.
