Relaxing place with lovely scenery

Loved Paihia- on a sunny day it's a great place to walk the beach, check out the shops & catch the ferry to Russell. Beautiful!

A beautiful entrance to the Bay of Islands. A great stepping off point to explore historic Russell on the passenger ferry "Bay Belle".

We caught the Bay Belle from Paihia to Russell and spent a few hours there and then returned on Bay Belle to Paihia. A great way to see some of the bay if your short of time or don't want to pay a fortune on a full day tour.

Beautiful bay with its many islands. The beach is great for strolling, running or whatever your pace. Even has some good skipping stones if you are so inclined. Definitely want to return in the summer.

This is definitely the heart of The Bay of Islands & the jumping off point for numerous water based activities. Well worth a couple of days

We took a great cruise of the islands with a snack lunch - it was delightful and highly recommended. Pick a day that is not to wild

The Harbour is a lovely place to see the other side over to Russell, There is a money exchange down on the wharf, which do not charge you any fees, as well as the tour centre where you can book your day trips to Hole in the Rock, Everybody we came across were friendly and helpful

What needs to be said? - superb location in the scenic Bay of Islands, everything you need is there - accommodation, good food, good transport links, dolphin watching, ferries to Russell, adjacent to Waitangi, gateway to Northland and so on.

Just a beautiful clean harbour to just look at from the road or beach, or explore by ferry and any other way you want to pay for!
