We combined our visit with a hangi. The site is truly beautiful, set in stunning grounds and the starting point for appreciation of Maori culture and New Zealand as a nation. The museum is one of the best anywhere. The grounds delightful. Don't miss it.

Went to a n evening Hangi and concert, which was superb, with lovely food, welcome, tour and explanation. It included the option to return to the grounds and museum the next day.

This is, by its own estimation posted in the entryway, the "Most Important Historical Site in New Zealand", and based on my recollection of 10-12 years ago, this is a very pleasant and informative site to visit. But, if you come from the US, where...More

Coming from Australia, we have many Kiwi mates at home and they had told us about this place where the Treaty was signed. I found it a great place to start our 18 day journey through NZ.

Yes there is a entry fee to the treaty grounds but well worth it, and you do not have to do the guided tour - that is extra - quite easy to have a look around yourself but will learn so much more with the guided tour.
