We were disappointed that we couldn’t walk the distance as some sections were under water. It is obvious that these areas need bridges or walkways built up.

We spent a very hot few hours walking to , around and from this place and saw virtually nothing whilst there. A few butterflies and the normal bird life but nothing new. It is very hot on a sunny days so take water. I see other people have really enjoyed it but we couldn’t find anything to get excited about, sorry.…

Walks everywhere. Over old historical embankment bridge. And can bicycle ride slowly as well.Just giveaway all walkers. Use google maps in satellite view. Can see all the extra places. And ask the locals. Go explore. See photos. Like from south end of old embankment bridge (there is a fresh water tape there, look for it on the east side of old road) , walk west under expressway then along the stopbank to where the end of the airport runway is. And watch the planes land and take off. Like on north west side of expressway is the bird watching bush reserve. Labels westshore reserve on map. See my “tour of Napier plan” post somewhere in here.…

Travel just past Ahuriri towards Bayview and park the car up. Great time to visit is sunset. Walk the expansive boardwalks passing by Maori totems and local artwork. The estuary holds a vast array of wildlife birds, fish and plant life. Take time out to relax and contemplate, a great walk.…
