Stopped by on a cruise ship port call

We did want to pay the huge price that the ships charge for a bus trip to 3 wineries in the local wine district so we opted for this. We didn't have a lot of time and there was... read more

After all the hype this was a tremendously underwhelming experience mainly because of the lack of service. We were basically ignored, chose our own wine and left. There was no effort to explain to us about tours or tastings etc. just seemed like a posh bottle shop.

My mom, sister, and I decided to do a wine tasting here and loved it. Sam was knowledgeable, friendly, and engaging. She also gave us great tips and information for our travels around New Zealand. She helped us choose our wines to taste and we even sampled one of her favorites. Actually, her favorite chardonnay turned out to be our... More

We stopped here during our tour with the Art Deco Trust. It's set in an old hotel and there are several artifacts from that time as well as the beautiful door and interior designs. We didn't buy wine as it seemed expensive, but that could just be what we looked at. Definitely worth stopping in and checking it out.

We did want to pay the huge price that the ships charge for a bus trip to 3 wineries in the local wine district so we opted for this. We didn't have a lot of time and there was only one staff member. She was extremely nice. That's why I gave it 4 instead of 3 stars. I didn't like... More

Of course you should do both but as this was less than five minutes from our hotel it would have been rude not to have done a tasting. Things did seem a little disorganised to start with in terms of different options and what order to do activities in (especially as we were one of only two couples in the... More

We went for the full experience. Wine, food pairings and dessert wine. Starting with the aroma room - we were left on our own to figure it out. The idea was to try and smell the various unique compounds found in the wines. So that when the time came to taste, you could recognize them. Some had no smell, some... More

Went with another couple to the wine centre today to experience the aroma room, taste 6 red and 6 white wines alongside a tasting plate of nibbles followed by 3 dessert wines with sweet treats. Money well spent. We had a great time which was facilitated well by Sam who was very friendly and informative adding to the enjoyment of... More

Very well done wine tasting experience though the wines themselves were just ok....give it try at the end of the day. Sam, the hostess, was lots of fun!

We had gone to Napier especially to try the sniffing rooms. When we arrived, the assistant said not to bother, as the samples didn't have any smell! Very disappointing. But everything else we did in the 4 weeks we spent in New Zealand would get 5 stars, easily.

We were staying in a hotel across the road so decided to pop in and see what they had to offer by way of wine sampling and a wine tasting experience. Greeting was not warm, bit matter of fact, seemed like we must have come on a bad day, so we decided not to stay. However we did come back... More
