The New Playpark
Sep 2020
There is so much to do in this free to use, newly revamped park, that it's hard to mention all that goes on, so I won't, but I will attempt to say how well it's been done by saying that the facility isn't just for those in Greenmeadows area, but for those of Napier who are prepared to go out their way to use it. The great thing is that a number of the "rides" are big enough and strong enough for many adults to use, whether intended or not, so when my daughter begs me to have a go too, I can hardly refuse. My favourite has to be the Flying Fox and hers is the slides.
Also at Anderson Park is a miniature train ride manned by enthusiasts, which can take kids and adults alike on the long, small scale (5 inch gauge track, I think). There's a pond where RC boats can be used, a barbecue area, a lake with a huge variety of birds which always come flocking after potential feeds, and a reasonable amount of parking.
There's the occasional music festival hosted there, like Christmas In The Park, sponsored by Cox Real Estate last year, and many other events which can be held there like the Gypsy Fairs. There's even toilets !!!
Bring a picnic and stay for the day. Thanks, I believe, are due to the Napier Council for this facility, so make sure you use it and look after it.

Fabulous Playground with Shade!
Jan 2020
That was a fabulous playground to explore on a very hot day. The kids loved the huge slides and water play area. We all went through the aqua play area to cool off and the kids spent ages playing with the waterways that they were able to dam up etc. Great to have some playground equipment that is wheelchair accessible too.

Award winning childrens' play area
Jan 2020
This lovely park with plenty of car parking is a great place to have a walk around including the lake with many water birds including black swans. If you have children, there is a fantastic new and award winning play area with swings, slides, climbing frames and many other activities for children up to about from toddlers up to 12/15 years old to occupy themselves. Also importantly there is adequate shading. If you are in the Taradale/Napier area it is worth a detour.

Amazing park

Here with our 5, 3 and 1 year olds and they just loved it! The water play was a big hit, hard to drag them away from it. Also the flying fox and "musical instruments". Good spot to have our picnic lunch

Jan 2020
We are from Auckland and I must say this is one of the best parks we have ever been to. Fantastic playground equipment, flying fox, water-play, a river,ducks,skate-park and cycle paths. What more could you ask for? Flew our kite here as well. Really fantastic.

Lovely place to rewind, recalibrate and wind-dowm

Stretching over 24 hectares, this beautiful park includes landscaped gardens surrounding an elegant 1925 Georgian-style mansion fringed with an expanse vow native bush. Sadly the house is off-limits due to earthquake risk.
