2hr walk. Definitely value for $. Learnt a lot about Art Deco, the reasons it came into being and the relationship that has with Napier and the terrible earthquake. Guide knew heaps and was able to answer queries. Lovely local shop at the Art Deco centre as well.

We took the 2 hour walk on the recommendation of our morning tour guide. The tour takes participants around the town visiting Art Deco buildings hearing about their design and also the history of Napier pre and post the 1931 earthquake. The tours are led by a dedicated group of volunteers who couldn't do enough for our group including providing... More

I enjoyed relating to the personal and friendly staff. Shopping in the gift shop. Historical movies. Art and photos are well worth looking at. I have not been on the walking tour but believe it is very informative and interesting. Also the car tours are worth doing.

The kids and I did a walking tour of Napier's inner city Art Deco buildings. It started with a very informative slide show of the Napier earthquake in 1931, followed by a hour of walking tour and closed with a video. We really enjoyed it and left with an appreciation of the devastation of earthquakes and a knowledge of Art... More

Napier on the North Island of New Zealand hosts an annual Art Deco week in February . The residents participate whole heartedly in hosting a step back into the 1930 s Napier experienced a catastrophic earthquake that destroyed all but 4 buildings and as the Phoenix rose from the ashes it took on the cloak of that era but with... A great guided informative walking tour of the city with a short movie about Napier. The tour is for about 2 hours and takes you through the streets of Napier, pointing out the beautiful art Deco buildings in this lovely city. The guide was very informative. The shop is great with some lovely art Deco pieces and the staff a... More

I purchased this for $7.90 direct from the Art Deco society website. It was good to read it before my visit too as it is an interesting overview of Napier. The self guided 'Seafront walk' and the 'City Walk' allow you to move around at your own pace and read the interesting history of buildings and landmarks. No need to... More

Strolling around the Town Centre of Napier with a camera could occupy a whole day if you let it . So many great examples of the Art Deco style , if you are into it you will love it . Plenty of Cafe's and restaurants to take breaks .

We'd read about the centre so it was one of our first stops in Napier. Lots of interesting things to look at and buy and nicely displayed and set out. The service was friendly without being over the top. It d a little bit touristy but put that aside and enjoy.
