The trip was great fun from start to finish. Having booked online last minute and not staying in a recognised hotel/motel/bnb we were a little concerned about being picked up but Greg arrived bang on time to our driveway. All the wineries were very enjoyable with diverse wines to taste and had different vibes which kept it interesting. The cheese platter was delicious, great to see Greg go out his way to get the lactose intolerant person in our group some salamis instead of cheese. His chat and humour kept us all entertained between stops. In all the tour was a fun personal trip through Hawke’s Bay, would 100% recommend to others!

My wife and I had a great time with Greg, visiting 4 vineyards in the course of an afternoon. By the end of it we were all feeling quite happy! ;) The pace also felt unhurried and we had time to enjoy some of the beautiful surroundings.

Greg was very knowledgeable and had a killer sense of humour. And he also went above and beyond, we probably had too much wine and left a pair of shades behind in the van, and he drove back the next morning to drop it off for us. Really made our day.

My wife and I booked a tour while we were in Napier and it was the best part of our visit. Greg drove us around with 2 other couples to a variety of wineries where we met some fantastic people who knew their business well. Highlights of the tour for me included Ash Ridge and Brook Field wineries - both of the owners there took the time to really talk about how they produced their wines. The stop at the black barn for lunch was amazing - the menu ranged from snacks to delicious mains. I had some chips and a glass of cognac which was perfect for warming up on a cold winter day, and then we continued our adventure. We ended up at Sileni winery for a large cheese platter which was perfect for the last 6 wines they had for us to sample. All in all, Greg was a great driver and guide along the way and all the wineries we visited had excellent selections to choose from. We took home a bottle of Port, Chardonnay, Gin, and 2 bottles of Ruby Syrah, in addition to some delicious chocolates and Pourriture from Sileni. We'll be back here for sure with friends.

We went on the ‘wine and dine tour’. We were picked up at 11:00 and arrived at Church Road at 11:20, and were left to do a tasting and have lunch! We would have expected to get in at least two tastings before lunch and certainly not eat so early. In total we visited five wineries and had very mixed experiences. The wines at Church Road and Trinity Hill were very ‘commercial’ and really not very good - perhaps they produce better wines, but we were not offered them, and the person conducting the tasting at Trinity Hill could not have been less interested. The tastings at Ash Ridge and Sileni were both excellent; the wines were extremely well made and the people conducting the tastings really interesting and happy to discuss the wines in detail. The final tasting at Black Barn was a waste of time; the wines seemed well made, but the tastings absolutely perfunctory; the person conducting the tasting was clearly keen to get rid of us as soon as possible and was more interested in advertising their accommodation and events than talking about the wine. We were glad we did the tour, but it would be much better to concentrate on smaller less commercial wineries (like Ash Ridge and Sileni) and perhaps reduce the number of wineries visited to four.

My Mum arranged this tour for a group of 12 of us for her 75th birthday. We had couples, family, friends, and a teen (of legal drinking age). Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Greg did a fantastic job making everyone feel welcome. He was accommodating and informative and we never felt rushed. It was a fun way to time together with a group of all ages. The wine was fantastic, as was the cheese platter. Well worth it - would definitely recommend.

A fantastic day out and a great way to experience the best that Hawkes Bay has to offer. Our driver and guide for the day, Greg, was just awesome with the perfect balance between being knowledgeable and helpful- while leaving us to enjoy the company of our out of town friends... and the wine :-) Our favourite vineyard was Brookfields for the wine, the setting and the tremendous hospitality of the owners. Just lovely! We highly recommend Greg and Grape Escape and will definitely be booking in another tour sometime soon!!!

Me and my group of 6 booked a wine tour with Grape Escape and I have to say it was the best day ever! The organisation of it all meant we just got up and went without having to think twice about what we were doing. Everything was booked when we got to each winery which was amazing and the platters included were very accommodating. Grieg, the owner of the business was our driver and he did an amazing job with organising a good Spotify playlists and being involved with us on the tour. I would 10/10 recommend this to anyone that is wanting a stress free day with amazing tasting wine and food!

Thanks so much team, will definitely be doing this one again!

We joined the group led by Robbie on the 8th January. We had a wonderful afternoon touring a selection of vineyards in Hawke’s Bay. As the tour progressed and the effects of the wine took hold, our catchphrase became ‘the wine was too winey’😂
It was great fun and we would heartily recommend this trip!

We had an amazing day of winery visits. Greg was a very entertaining host with good stories to tell & wide local knowledge. He chose a good spectrum of different types of winery for us to visit. We enjoyed the variety and the hosting at each place. Greg was punctual to pick us up & his relaxed style enhanced our enjoyment. It was good to be dropped back at our front door after a great day out. We would recommend Grape Escapes to anyone wanting to explore the diversity of wine producers in Hawkes Bay.

My wife, adult son and I did a Wine and Dine tour with Greg in February 2021. We had such an awesome time that we determined to come back at some stage and do it again with some friends. So this October 2022, on my wife's birthday weekend, we returned with two of our best friends to do another Wine and Dine tour and we again had an awesome time.

The wine and dine tour consists a visit to 5 different wineries, with lunch being held at one of them. Greg picks you up, wherever you are staying and drops you back off when the tour is finished.

On our first tour in 2021 we visited Askerne, Black Barn, where we had lunch, Unision, Ash Ridge and Sileni where we finished up with a cheese board.

This October we went to Church Road, Brookefields where we had lunch, Unison, Ash Ridge and Askerne where we finished up with a cheese board.

Greg is a great host, he provided interesting local historical information about the area while travelling between wineries as well as good general conversation and information about wineries in the area.

On both occasions we ended up sharing the experience with a really great group of people, who helped to make it a memorable occasion, along with the great wine and food we got to sample/consume on the days concerned.

We will definitely look at doing this again, hopefully with a few more friends in tow. It is such a great way to spend a day. I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone who likes to taste/drink wine and share the experience with like minded people out for a day of fun.
