An embarrassment to New Zealand
Feb 2020
Every time I come to this stadium for a concert - admittedly I'm not a sports fan, so only attended concerts - I'm reminded how bad this venue really is. When the performer is brilliant, the venue is bearable; otherwise it's just plain awful. We should be embarrassed that this is what we offer to world class performers as a venue option - I'm surprised they still come play!

Queen and Adam Lambert Concert
Feb 2020
Superb venue, seat in East South stand. Great view and crowds were humming...Super impressed with the management of the crowds in and out of the Stadium, huge pat on the back for the staff.
Concert was awesome, east access to food, drinks and toilets.
Taxis were inflating their prices afterwards, shame on you...
Would definitely be back for another concert. Miles better than Vector/Spark as a venue.

Queen and Elton in one week
Feb 2020
Even though our seats for Queen were supposedly restricted viewing they were great and we were front on for Elton but the seats were much tighter in the temporary stands. AT transport there was extremely efficient but finding our way back to the bus afterwards was impossible for Queen (we took the train in the end) and difficult for Elton. Gate E is all the way through Mt Smart and out the back and around whch is a bit of a trek. Fairly efficient operation and gret experiences even if Elton did only complete half his planned songlist

Amazing concert, amazing venue. Everything about the event was top notch, well priced food, clean bathrooms and friendly staff.

U2 concert
Dec 2019 • Friends
We had tickets in the East stand Lounge area so the view was to the side but not restrictive. Good access to toilets and the bar, queues weren't too bad.

We took the free train from britomart there and back, pretty painless short walk to stadium. Would definitely recommend it.

U2 by night
Nov 2019
A good 15 to 20 mins walk from Penrose Station but the Stadium is well equipped and easy to get around to and from the bathrooms, bars, and food stalls. No line ups or queues

Disability and wheelchairs
Nov 2019 • Friends
Despite being very helpful in providing disability parking which was well sited the reality was a bit different. The actual car park was like a bumpy dirt track, try and bounce over that is a wheelchair or actually push someone.

Gate B selected for access was terrible It was narrow bumpy and hilly. It’s alright for me in the chair but for my daughter pushing it was a nightmare.

The worse part was going down the hill to the stadium . It was so steep I am not sure if this could be avoided and leaving going up was terrible. Luckily a couple of young men stepped up and offered to push me , my daughter could hardly move me. It was ok for those in motorised chairs of course. This possibly can’t be avoided but it is not ok. The people to be helpful were just that but not able to push chairs or even offer to help

Went to watch the U2 concert, the stadium was good in preparation and staff were great to deal with. Won’t hesitate coming back for another concert.

I have been here a few times for concerts over the years and normally very well run, which was the case for my most recent visit. Free transportation to and from the stadium is available and is well signposted. Inside the grounds the facilities are well organised, though I would note that the queue for the bar gets longer the closer you get to the start of the concert (which wouldn’t be a surprise). While you have to enter the gate noted on your ticket you can leave by any gate, and I would advise working out which is the one closest to where you want to get transport from the grounds, as this could save you some time at the end of the concert.

Mar 2019 • Couples
Is a decent stadium with fair facilities. The lines are rather long to purchase drinks and beverages so it definitely pays to arrive early otherwise you can miss a lot of the show.

The transport system to get to the concerts from the Auckland CBD and suburbs on the train link are usually provided for free, so definitely worth utilising to avoid the manic traffic congestion and parking.

We lined up for 50 mins just to get in only to discover security had sent the majority to the wrong gate, so definitely worth checking online your gate entrance prior.
