This is definitely worthwhile - not cheap but see it as your contribution to maintaining the wildlife in this lovely spot. A bit risky as very weather dependant - you can take a shorter or longer boat trip to reach it - if swells and choppy seas aren't your thing then drive the extra distance. Once there it is literally... More

A glimpse into Aotearoa before human contact. The flora, fauna and nature experience is a great family day out. The ferry ride, seeing birds in their natural habitat and soaking up the scenery, would have to be the high lights of a thoroughly memorable experience.

If you love birds and nature then this is the place for you. It's great to go with a guide to get more info but it's easy enough to follow the track and we soon figured out they have put seats where the birds often congregate so sit and wait and they will come. Birds are pretty tame and great... More

Get close to timeless NZ at this island nature reserve known for its diverse bird life. A day-trip ferry ride to this little island out in the Hauraki Gulf will bring you to regenerating native forest and a chance to see and hear some of the 87 species of birds sighted on or near the island. As a young school... More

I have now been to Tiritiri Matangi several times with friends, visitors to NZ and students. The experience never ceases to amaze everyone how special the experience is and how important it is that as a nation we do everything possible to protect our endangered species of birds

I don't know much about birds but I loved the trip to Tiri. There are a lot of different walks so I can even go back for another experience soon. I would recommend the guided walk, the guides are brilliant - very helpful, enthusiastic and love passing on their knowledge.

What an amazing day out with my daughter's year 7 class - I had no idea how beautiful this island is and I now really appreciate the conservation effort that has been made by many. This is a true tribute to determination and hard work. The girls also loved it - more schools should adopt this as a field trip.... More

Ferry ride and bush walk were quite nice . Guides are quite knowledgeable but not many exotic types and most are found in our mainland bush walks e.g Humus Waitakere etc. Go with no expectations and just to enjoy the short break from.the city.

Wonderful place to take visitors to Auckland expecially in good weather Lovely boat trip and then a walk up to the top through bush Not too difficult but there is help available for those finding it a bit hard. Faconating bird and trees and a special part of NEw Zealand to enjoy and show off to visitors.

This is a wonderful place. NZ's natural beauty and a protective bird sanctuary. You do need to take your own lunch as there is nowhere to buy. We left from Auckland City and the boat trip was a bit rough however if you leave from Whangaparoa there isn't such a long boat trip and it isn't as rough.
