The picture in the frame is something you have to do. Although there is not public transportation to the visitors centre so you need a car or a bike. I walked there and took me 3 hours so no. I don't recommend doing that.

Awesome views and bushwalks here including out to Ferry Falls and many scenic stops along the way, definitely a must do for West Auckland!

If you come by the Western part of Auckland, be sure to visit this place. It has an awesome view of the different sides of the "City of Sails' and a trail to walk onto.

Absolutely beautiful. But recommend that you check where you a parking. My friends and I usually take 2 cars. Park on one area and another where we are going, just incase someone can't make the walk back.

Great views and a wonderful walk through the rain forest. The visitor centre is well laid out and very informative. Younger kids really enjoyed the interactive toys and displays. Pack a picnic lunch and sit in the garden.

Did a city tour and this was included in the package. It was a quick stop to visit the information center and get some scenic views of the water and forest.

We visited the Arataki visitor center (very nice-great views) and got advice for some lovely shorter hikes. The kauri trees are special. There are waterfalls, nature trails, just choose an activity based on the weather, your fitness level and your clothing and you can have...More

It's great anytime of year. Nice and cool in summer and in the wet weather the bush gives off a really special aroma. But have waterproof jackets and good walking shoes, because you will get everytning wet
