The Waitakere Ranges is a great place to visit and has beautiful views. It is on Scenic Drive in Titirangi which can be a narrow and windy drive at times, but the views are worth it on a beautiful day you can see out to the Waitakere Ranges and out to the Manukau Harbour.

Magnificent views of the Waitakere Ranges, the cultural centre with its totems. Make a sop on your way to Piha beach

If you don't have time for a more extensive trip into the NZ countryside a half day trip to the Waitakere Ranges and the west coast beaches is a great option.

Make sure to stop by when you are in the Waitakere ranges, stunning location and very educational. Lovely deck to sit in a beanbag and relax (and enjoy a delicious organic icecream)

Good Views, Nice picture frame to take pictures with the ocean view background. Travel and bit more to Long bay and spend time BBQ at the beach.

Although my husband and I are Auckland born and bred we only found out about the Arataki Visitor Centre by stumbling across it whilst driving home from Piha. Since the visitor centre shares its name with the brand of honey in our pantry, we decided to check it out. This place has excellent car parking, and judging by the number... More

You can spend whole day over there, have a picnic with family or friends and relax too. There is the public bus which goes to that area, but it is better to go by car and don't worry about the time.

There are so many options for walking/tramping track to take that vary from half an hour to a whole day. Many places to go to and most of the tracks can join onto others to loop back to your starting point. This includes Piha, Karekare and Whatipu amongst others on the West Coast of Auckland. We did an all day... More

We were lucky enough to have a wonderful guide named Kevin Oates for this tour. He was fun, so filled with a love of this part of NZ. He was very informative and interesting. It was a joy to be on his tour. Do not miss the chance of experiencing the Waitakere Range with him.
