This is one of the many stops for the Hop On Hop Off bus. I was able to hike from the bus stop and back within 1/2 hour so was able to catch the next bus and continue on the route. A 5-minute hike uphill from the bus stop will take you to the best views of Auckland, downtown in... More

Worth going to, one of the few free thing you can do in Auckland, you get a 360 view of the whole city.

We stayed at the wonderful "Eden Park" B&B and from there walked to the top of Mount Eden. The view was really nice 360 degrees around and the neighborhoods surrounding Mount Eden are quite nice with interesting architecture.

We spent 3 days in Auckland and had to dodge the rain so when there was a break we decided we would hike up to Mt. Eden. What a delightful spot to view Auckland. There is a walking path entirely around the top of the mountain so you can see Auckland from all directions. The hike up is a challenge... More

The Maori name for Mt Eden means the mountain of the Whau tree. You will get great views all over Auckland city from the top of this volcano, and a nice walk up from Mt Eden Road. There's a fantastic children's playground at the foot of the mountain. When you come down from the top you can stroll along to... More

With Oaklands Lodge at the base of Mt Eden it's just a 20 minute walk all the way to to the top from there. Amazing 360 degrees view over the city, worth doing during the day, sunset or at night!

If you are in Auckland Mt Eden is a tranquil oasis to escape to. An enjoyable place to visit and chill out away from the busy city noise and traffic. If you drive up to the carpark and take a short climb to the top you will enjoy great views of Auckland city. Take a picnic lunch and just enjoy... More

This was quite steep climbing but can be done by all ages if you take your time. Great views from several points during the climb. Good walking shoes recommended. Hat as no shade at top. I managed three quarters of way (in late sixties)
