- Linda LAuckland Central, New Zealand9 contributionsTOO LOUD!!Please Sky City staff/ organiser turn the excessively loud music down. I had to hurry through my lunch this week as the noise was unbearable. Didn't stop to play machines. I realise you want the atmosphere pumped to encourage people to spend, but looking around I saw mainly people my age who are well past thumping noise. After spending $11.50 on said lunch, my card was rejected at the coffee machine. Luckily a helpful staff member rescued me by swiping her card.Visited January 2020Written January 11, 2020
- SouthernDuoDunedin, New Zealand253 contributionsAvoid the car park at all costs! This place has the worst car park in the universe. Instead of floors it has giant ramps and the floor numbers make it more confusing. There are machines that direct you to your car but the directions aren’t clear. We passed other sets of people trying to find their cars. Afterwards almost everyone we told about the trouble we had also had a similar story to tell. Sort it out Sky City.Visited January 2020Traveled with familyWritten January 21, 2020
- AcinetoAuckland Central, New Zealand20,073 contributionsLots of machinesI had some time to spare so I went and had a walk around the casino. The casino entrance is at the top of the escalator on the left of the main Sky City entrance. There were plenty of slot machines around the entire place. There were also a few more traditional games like blackjack and poker, as well as roulette and baccarat. It was quite busy so it was interesting walking around. The casino area has a few eating areas like Any's burger and Bar as well as Food republic, which is reminiscent of a food court. There was also a bar by the massive screening area which had sports on. It was a nice place to wander about and it was quite lively.Visited August 2022Written August 29, 2022

The food here is superb, and very reasonably priced. The Deli is on Level 2 of Sky Tower, Sky City Casino. There are several roasts to choose from (1/2 roast chicken, pork, beef, which all come with mashed or roast potatoes, vegetables, and gravy if you choose), and are around $13.50-$14.50 for a large plate of delicious food, which we share. If you are a member the food is slightly cheaper and currently, on Friday and Sunday, you can get $5 Fish, chips and salad, or $8 roast beef, vege etc. They also have Indian dishes, and the fish and chips, then along at The Wok (attached to the Deli) is a huge variety of Asian foods, moderately priced. There is heaps of seating to enjoy your meal. There are lots of other restaurants on this site too, and it is worth exploring the web if you are contemplating a visit. There are days they are closed at Easter and Christmas, but apart from that The Deli has meals from 11.30am to 11pm. Enjoy a great experience.

I stayed at the Skycity hotel in Auckland and at around 10 PM i went to the casino on the 1st floor wearing a baseball hat. Two security guards were at the entrance, one asked something and because of the background noise I didn’t quite understand what he asked me to do, politely he said something about my hat so I thought he needed to check the hat so I took it off he saw it and I put it back on, and right away the other guy very rudely said - you heard what he said, take off your hat!! I said to him, i didn’t quite understand what he said, then he started rising his voice saying - you understood, he said to remove your hat!! I just found it so rude and I immediately turned around and left the casino without playing anything.
I understand the security guard was doing his job, but there are ways to ask for things. BTW, behind me was a group of Indian people with turbans, do they get asked to remove it from their heads too? (I doubt it)
Photo is from the area where the security guards were located

The food in the kitchen was very poor quality and the service was crap. The choices of food were average at best. I ordered roast duck and it came sliced. Every slice had small broken bones, the worst I have ever had. Friends with me also had crappy meals.
Service was crap. After my meal I went to buy a beer (I was sober and had nothing to drink. I was quiet and friendly). When ordering a beer I was told that I have had too many already. I said that I was sober and had no beer all day. She said no, you have had too many already. I repeated quietly that I was sober. She told me to go to another bar on the floor but she was not serving me.
So, I had a bunch of friends coming. I told them the food was crap as was the service and not to spend a dollar.
I walked out and will never return to this crappy place.
It seems they are not worried about people spending their rent money and pay checks in their machines but instead, wrongly pick out sober people and won’t sell beer at $11 a bottle.
They will never get another dollar out of me, ever

Great trip away with friends, staff we interacted with were very helpful and willing to go extra for us. Our meals we had were all tasty, beautifully presented and moderately priced. We shouldn't have gone into the actual casino side but such a great experience and atmosphere.

We are not usually gamblers but we had a flutter at Sky City and enjoyed it. The casino is well laid out and actrive. It's open 24 hours a day, seven days a week (with a few exceptions). The main reason we went to the Casino, which was not far from our hotel, was to have the buffet, which we were told is very good -- and so it proved. Unfortunately, we missed out on the seafiid buffet. I would say that that the Sky City Casino is very good. I am not a great gambler, but I did like the atmosphere.

While staying in this hotel my husband and I had a great time spending our last night in NZ winning and losing money in this casino. We played black jack and the best part is they have live dealer tables! We played for hours! The staff is very friendly and casino is clean and well organized. And I love that it smells clean too. In the states they often reek of cigarettes. Recommend.

My wife and I were on vacation in Auckland back in February. I checked out the Sky City Casino in Auckland, with the idea that I might play a little blackjack. However, as soon as I saw that they use continuous shuffling machines, I walked out without placing a single bet. I am not a card counter, but I know enough to know that, when a lot of small cards fall during a particular hand, the player’s odds of getting a better hand are slightly improved on the next deal. Conversely, when a lot of 10s fall during one hand, the player’s chances are not as good on the next deal. This bit of information, coupled with knowledge of basic strategy, means that I am playing close to even with the casino when I play blackjack—at least when they follow Las Vegas rules and perform manual shuffling. Casinos use continuous shufflers to ensure that this tiny advantage is taken away and that the player will have no fighting chance against the house. In the case of continuous shufflers, there is no way to know how often the shuffling takes place. It could be done continuously, casino denials notwithstanding. The numerous oddball blackjack rules invented recently by certain casinos only obfuscate the game and do nothing to improve the player’s chances of winning. If you want to play blackjack, avoid this casino. Note: This review is the same as my review of the Star Casino in Sydney.

Worst poker room ever.
Dealers all have an attitude, and the supervisors are even worse. Enjoyed the 2/4 game, but with everyone that works there constantly yelling at the players, it can really mess up your mood...which have effects on your play.
Went there about 7 nights in a row while killing time in Auckland and had an issue every night.
Night 1.Dealer called clock on me in Under 2 mins! $800+ pot and me allin to call.
Night 2.They refused to chip me up to blacks. didnt even have any room left in front of my seat with 2k in red chips. They made a huge deal about chipping me up and said I can if I leave(chip leader...?)
Night 3. Sat out for 9 minutes to wait for next dealer. This apparently was appalling. They got 3 supervisors to come yell at me and said I had to play or leave and left dealer on for a second shift to spite me.
so on it went every night. not just me, i see it a bunch there.
Although, the 3 fights i see break out at the tables, the supervisors either run and hide or just watch like a little school girl until it escalates. Terrible at their jobs

What Can I say? this place was heaving on Saturday night. We hit the $10 Black Jack table as ( unlike Sydney $25 Min) I find this a great minimum bet, straight away we we're on to a winning streak, Aided by this was the fact the dealer didn't seem to have a vast grasp on the game its self. After a dozen odd hands she was swiftly replaced ( the eye in the sky probably saw to much leaving the pot) we wandered around stayed away from the slots played some Baccarat then back to the Black Jack Tables where we found another "generous dealer" all in all fun place but be careful leaving as there is a lot of seriously drunk people in and around the Casino entrance and streets.

When you think casino you think vibrant people around the roulette table, waitresses taking drinks to people playing the slots, a bar with happy people around it and of course there are the few bad customers but sky city is instead a great view of what's wrong with nz. The casino is full of drunks looking for a last drink or gamblers. The amount of times you hear of kids being found in the carpark while their underdressed parents are inside is disgusting.
The staff are mostly on power trips acting like you should be lucky to be in this hole. Sadly it's the only casino in Auckland if you want a casino experience but to be honest it's just a depressing sight
