We crossed this bridge several times during our stay in Auckland. It is just a bridge which normally gets very busy with traffic. There is no pedestrian access which means that it is impossible to walk across it. It is a very poor second to Sydney Harbour bridge.

It's funny because when I saw the bridge from afar in person, it didn't look that high, but when you are on it and see people bungee jumping from under it, you quickly change your mind. This is such a fantastic tour! You learn a lot of history about the building of the bridge, just how much the city relies on it (from it carrying the main water source, to transportation). You are in a suit that keeps you warm and dry (we were lucky to have the rain stop long enough for our tour). This is definitely something anyone can do (if you're afraid of heights, just be a little brave).
The only thing I was not a fan of, were the pictures. I didn't think the pictures that were taken were very good. We didn't have the option to purchase the one we likes (you have to buy the package), so we did it for the memories.
The free shuttle is definitely a plus- picked us up from the Sky Center and since we were the only ones going back, our driver was nice to divert to a pub we wanted to try (since it was raining again).

Hi Katie, it's great to hear you loved the Auckland Bridge Climb! We're stoked you loved the experience of watching Bungy Jumps, learning the history of the Harbour Bridge and it's a bonus that the weather seemed to be in your favour! Thanks for leaving a review. Cheers!

eight-lane motorway bridge over the Waitematā is very interesting. It joins St Marys Bay on the Auckland city side with Northcote on the North Shore side. It is part of State Highway 1 and the Auckland Northern Motorway. The bridge is operated by the NZ Transport Agency.

This is not a tourist attraction. It's an essential transport route that connects the North Shore with the CBD. I don't recommend spending any time on looking at this, apart from at a distance, e.g., when you're sitting outside a restaurant at Commercial Bay or similar.

Auckland Harbor Bridge has suffered substantial damage. The bridge is now only four lanes. Allow 4-5 hours may be more to cross. Check NZTA online for updates. Travel late at night or very very early in the morning. A large 22-meter steel beam was damaged by collision with a huge truck. The repair, the patch up may last till December 2020. From time to time the bridge might be completely closed.

Our family went for a birthday outing. A lot of fun and a great afternoon out. Highly recommend doing this while you are in Auckland.

The Bridge Climb is probably worth it, and running or cycling over it during the Auckland Marathon and the Auckland 70.3 is recommeded. Otherwise, on a world scale it's nothing amazing.

The thing I like most about this widened bridge is what the locals call the extra traffic lanes: "The Nippon Clip-on." Why? because it was a Japanese bridge-building company that showed how the bridge could be widened more cheaply than adding extra support piers.

You can walk over the Bridge and enjoy magnificent views. If you want to walk over, choose a non windy/wet day if you can. The drive over is memorable but make sure the driver concentrates!!!

I don't like heights but decided to challenge myself to climb Auckland Harbour Bridge rather than its big sister in Sydney. It was well worth it! I felt completely safe and although I was nervous the tour was very informative and the views distracted you from your nerves. I would highly recommend giving this tour a go even if you are not sure about heights. I am so pleased I did this and the photographs you can buy which are taken of you at the top of the bridge make great postcards to send home to family and friends.

How long does it take to walk over harbour bridge by the road
Written March 26, 2019
You cannot walk over the bridge. its not that type of bridge. pedestrians have to drive or take a buss, or if you fancy the wind in your hair and the smell of the Bein Marie, try a Ferry.

How much does it cost to do the bridge climb, and how long does it take?
Written March 1, 2016
There are a variety of deals going so check the website
Some that allow you to do combination of climb and bungy.
Usually takes about 90 min for the climb but allow a little more time to get there if being picked up from the centre of town.
