- TURNERONapier, New Zealand42 contributionsPark life.I often like to start here with tai chi at 10 am. And then I start wandering through the daffodil gardens around one tree hill to the summit and down the north face through the olive grove road and back past the creamery to the cafe park beside the mass of trees in flower. I do this once a week when I’m on vacation in a different country :)Thanks for sharing your review of Cornwall Park!Written May 28, 2020This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited December 2019Written April 28, 2020
- jtwoodfieldLondon, United Kingdom207 contributionsJust go and visitThis might not be an obvious tourist choice. Which is a shame. The park is beautiful abs beautifully maintained. The trees are magnificent. There are wonderful explanations of the Campbell bequest and the history of Auckland. As well as about the planting and the farms and ecology. Interesting both for adults and children. From the park one can walk up One Tree Hill where there is a monument to Campbell and panoramic views all over the city and gulf. Thanks for sharing your review of Cornwall Park!Written May 28, 2020This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited January 2020Traveled as a coupleWritten January 6, 2020
- WoodlandsMikeThe Woodlands, Texas215 contributionsGreat City ParkGreat place to relax, walk through the paddocks filled with sheep, cows, lambs and calves. Plenty of places to picnic, jog or just sit and read a book. There’s a cafe and ice cream shop if you get hungry and so many different types of native and imported trees and flowers to admireThanks for sharing your review of Cornwall Park!Written May 28, 2020This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited February 2020Traveled as a coupleWritten February 24, 2020

Lovely walk or play with the kids and dog. There are two cafes to eat at one casual one bistro. You wouldn’t know you were in the city, sit under a big old tree to read a book or just relax or have a picnic with your family.

This is such a great park just on the outskirts of the city. There is plenty of grassy areas to walk and run around in. There is also a kids playground by the observatory. You have to walk up to the summit but there is parking close to it.
There are also a lot of other things to see around the park such as the rotunda or the myriad of trees lining the paths. There is also a cafe if you were getting pecking or want an indoor rest. There isn't a way to drive from the main entrance on Greenlane West to the playground area so you'd have to get out of the park and get in the other entrance.
It is a nice place to spend a few hours or so just being outside.

Thanks Acineto for the fantastic review! The kids playground area is in fact part of One Tree Hill Domain, our friendly neighbouring park, run by Auckland Council.

This is a huge park with multiple entrances. It is open even on public holidays. We visited during the afternoon and it was nice just to take a stroll around, sit for some time and just gaze at the trees and expanse of greens . The park is well maintained

One of the most popular parks in Auckland, New Zealand especially during Springtime (September to November. You can do almost any activity here like biking, running, bird watching, etc. or choose to learn about sheep from the working farm. It has ample parking space around this humongous park. There are picnic tables and BBQ area at this park.

It's always been a fabulous place to visit and what has always amazed me is that it never seems crowded, even when there are lots of cars lining the avenue.
The park is just gorgeous, a peaceful domain, a refuge in a large busy city. Just a stroll through it, or part of it even, is enough to clear the mind and offer a sense of tranquility.
Yes, it's a great place to relax in and enjoy.

Beautiful serene space thats larger than you think. Delightful walk ways with a rural touch with sheep grazing. We packed a picnic and sat on one of the lovely slopes and enjoyed the serenity.

Huge, beautiful and clean park around one tree hill. It was the season for cherry blossoms and lots of people were there to view them. Well maintained park!

We enjoyed a great morning going around this park, once you get up the top, there's great scenic veiws all around, you can also see volcano creates, there's a large statue in the middle of the main area. We got some great photos shots. It's very much used by cyclists and walkers, a great place to soak up the out door life, there's also a cafe, selling a good selection of foods and refreshments, so we had a break and coffee! Free entry to the park; and a fair amount of free parking, Well worth our time to visit and enjoy this park!! If you've found this helpfull, please remember to tick, thanks and have a great trip. BM

Great to have such a large park in the middle of a city. Best to drive around the circuit road first and then decide where to park and enjoy the walks. There is a runner/long walking path around the edge of the two parks -(One tree hill and Cornwall park) great for exercise but the main walking path gives you more interesting scenery. Spring is best seen in the oak drive with all the daffodils in bloom and this year the paddocks to the side of this area were full of bouncing frolicking lambs. Other paddocks had cows with their calves but advisable not to go in these paddocks as mothers are very protective of their young. There are two cafes in the park catering for different tastes and atmosphere. The cafe up in the old building is more formal. Next to this is the information centre and art gallery which is worthwhile going in to check if there are any special events on. Summer jazz open air concerts by the large pohutukawa tree is my favourite. Picnics under the grove of cherry blossoms is also popular and In the BBQ areas you can create your own picnic. Firewood is provided free but this is very popular in summer so you have to go early to reserve one of the BBQ sites. You can not drive up to the top now but there are many paths to get up there and see the fantastic view of Auckland. My favourite path is the one starting at the gate at the back of the info centre and going up past unusual trees one having been burnt inside and thus providing a room for imaginative children like me. One thing I hope they provide in the future is an electric shuttle van for wheelchairs and the elderly so they can enjoy the view too.

This large park is only a short drive from Auckland city centre. There's a cafe plus original house that Sir John Campbell lived in which was moved here from it's original location near the waterfront - it was he who gifted the parkland to the people of NZ on or around his death in 1901 - his memorial marker/obelisk is on the hill summit. Due to it's location the summit is windy most days but you can usually shelter on a lee side. The views across the city and beyond are great but in my opinion not as good as from Victoria Hill across the bay at Devonport - Cornwall Park is obviously easier to reach but it's worth the effort getting to Devonport if you have the time, especially on a fine day.

Hi, I am staying in Auckland city centre tonight and was planning to visit Auckland Botanical Gardens this afternoon. Cornwall Park seems to be a good alternative, what with the opportunity to see sheep grazing as well as better accessibility from town centre. Appreciate your views, thanks in advance!

You can just walk along the lane and or drive within the park and can easily see the animals, as there is wire fences. It is like having the country in town. It is a beautiful big park
