This was meant to be a bit of a filler during a one stopover in Auckland but turned out to be a great half day out. The approach is through beautiful parkland and on arrival you are greeted by a stunningly impressive building with uninterrupted views over the harbour. We started with breakfast in the cafe which was quick, delicious... More

A great place to both learn more about New Zealand, Auckland, Maori culture. They have a very nice tropical garden complex (the Wintergardens) and a moving War tribute. If you are visiting Auckland and on a hop-on hop-off bus tour, which I recommend highly, you can change between bus routes here. Admission is very reasonable and well worth an in-depth... More

We spent 3 hours there yesterday and could have stayed longer. Very clean but a bit difficult to cover all the areas in an easy Circling way. We enjoyed the first floor tremendously and all the great artifacts displayed there. We also did the third floor but skipped the second due to the amount of time we had available to... More

A lovely modern exhibit space with something for everyone. A good cafe with a good range of food at reasonable prices.rge Maori show lasts 30 mins and whilst a bit cheesy gives a good history and the music was great. We took a 1 hour guided tour .. so worth it as covers a lot without being over whelming. Found... More

Went to this museum to check out their artifacts in the classical section. The front desk kindly explained the whole donation entrance fee which made life easier for me. The museum itself is well laid out and easy to pick to see what you want. The top most level which is the war section is awe inspiring and very touching.... More

I did not have time to peruse the whole museum, but it's covers many subjects from art to natural history to geology. You're bound to find something that interests you here. Easy to get to and a beautiful place with nice grounds for a picnic when the wind isn't blowing.

The building is majestic, I'll give you that. Now for the museum itself, we were a bit disappointed ; there are - way - too many different expositions ; most of them are interesting and show a lot of diversity in the items presented, while some others look incomplete as secluded in a tiny room in a corner of the... Excellent trip down memory lane... Trip through the decades of Nz music, music clips, music to pick up, album covers to recreate, lots of fun too. Missed Jenny Morris and Margaret Urlich, and MiSex.. But quite a bit to cover I imagine. Well worth the visit, if a little expensive.. 25 dollars!
