Nice inexpensive day out

Love the museum! Always an interesting experience to visit. Great effort made by kurators to keep exhibits new and different. Park grounds are amazing.

Well-kept facility. I like the kids area. I think it was nice for a once - off, but don't necessarily feel motivated to go again- it wasn't a very exciting experience.

If you have time for 2 museums in New Zealand, Auckland Museum should be one. It offers a solid orientation to Maori culture, history, artifacts and even has a restoration of a meeting house inside the museum. If you aren't able to make it to Rotorua for a deeper immersion into Maori communities, buy the upgrade for the Maori show.... More

A trip to Auckland is not complete without visiting this fabulous iconic building. The museum itself is hugely interesting with great displays of Maori and South Pacifica. The War Museum is awe-inspiring. The gardens surrounding it are great, huge trees to sit under or for the kids to climb, winter gardens, great photo opportunities and fabulous views out to sea... There is huge open ground and yard. Came too early in morning before the place was open. As we have other venues to visit, we cant wait. That it just take few photos and left.

Today I took my two grandchildren aged 5 and 7 on the tour. Faith, our tour leader was utterly fabulous. Able to pitch to adults and children. The tour which takes an hour, hits the high spots then you can take your time to explore other parts which capture your imagination or go back to look at things in greater... More
