Its a must to visit Auckland Museum. When you enter the north entrance, you enter the Maori section. There are so many beautiful Maori buildings, a cano, many art and a lot of very good information. We payed also for the Maori performance. Its also a must and much more cheaper than in Rotorua. They tell the show, they do... More

We learned about this museum during our free walking tour and a perfect stop when it started to rain. They request a donation. The building is award winning and includes some beautiful artwork.

Try to be sure you see the Maori Performance. Tickets are difficult to come by, so order in advance. Be sure to allow time to view the exhibits.

Museum is a must see - so many exhibits. We saw maori exhibits and world war 1 and 11 very interesting. You could spend all day here. There is a cafe but very busy. Lockers are used for back packs for security reasons.

We did the Moa Package with the tour and performance. Afterwards we had a nice lunch in the cafe and continued exploring on our own. We were easily there 4 hours but could have spent longer. The cultural performance was good, but short. I would have liked it to be a bit longer and feel there was a lot of... More

WOW!!!! What a GR8 place to learn about the MAORI culture and generally learn about NZ history. Please check out all floors and don't miss the fascinating show of the Hakka and Poi dance. Keep aside at least 2 hrs of your precious time to wander around this magnificent building, the gardens and of course the Glass House. Overall--9/10

Once again the museum was great. Even though they were doing some upgrade work this didn't detract from the experience and the "volume" exhibition was amazing.

Loved this museum! It starts with beautiful views across the city and harbor out to Rangitoto Island from the museum's entrance. The exhibitions are well presented and engaging. They have an excellent collection of Maori and Pasifika artifacts better than Te Papa's. I loved the 'Ancient Peoples' exhibit with the Egyptian Mummy and the Ancient Greek Black Figure pottery. Also... More
