Read the reviews and knew we needed to visit during our 2 day stay in Auckland. The building that houses the gallery is itself art. From the water feature in front to the soaring ceilings, the space was magnificent. When we could tear ourselves away...More

The architecture and design alone are worth a visit. The cafe is excellent and serves fresh and tasty food - not boring carb stacked food. All the special exhibitions we have visited have been well worth the visit and we really should go more often!

This gallery is in a lovely bit of parkland. Most of the art is by NZ artists but there is a section of European artists. There are some extraordinary portraits of Maoris painted in the early part of the 20th Century . The ones by...More

The museum has a wider collection - many rare "historical/heritage" works of art pertaining to New Zealand
