We have recently moved to Auckland and had driven past this historic house a number of times. Visiting on a Sunday afternoon with few other visitors proved an excellent choice. This is one of the best historic houses we have visited in New Zealand. Well restored and with plenty of period furniture, as other reviews have noted the preservation of... More

As you travel through the suburban streets of Mount Albert, you wonder how a piece of early Auckland history could have survived. And yet, right on the corner of Kerr Taylor Avenue, there it is in all its grandeur - Alberton. You are firstly struck by how beautiful the grounds are maintained. Then you are taken by the breathtaking appearance... More

Impressive colonial property. Very friendly guide who made it interesting for the kids. Lovely house decked out with tasteful Xmas decorations. Peaceful and relaxing grounds. Interesting history. Definitely worth a visit. On a fine day take a picnic and eat in the lovely grounds.

This home is a beautifully restored home. My husband and I while on vacation in New Zealand decided that we would like to check out some of the Historic homes and gardens in Auckland. I have always loved to tour these old homes and appreciate all the hard work the people did to keep it up and also to learn... More

This is a wonderful house both inside & out, well restored & full of the original furniture & facts about the family who built it too. Nice grounds. Every Aucklander should visit this place to get an idea of what the place was like 150 years ago.

A very pleasant quiet peaceful couple of hours visiting Alberton , tucked in a small side street away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Very well maintained and furnished, lots of interesting items to look at, you can close your eyes and go back in time to the more gentile days . Because this house was lived in... More

My partner and I visited Alberton House on a Sunday afternoon, starting with the grounds that are very nice and then inside of the house where a guide gave us an overview of the place and welcomed us in taking a look around and upstairs. The people at the front door were very professional and there's plenty of information about... More

After being excited about visiting the alberton sor some time, it was a greet disappointment to our party. Firstly they tried to sit us in full glaring sun. Secondly the food was very poor and also there was not enough compared to other high teas. The lunch was apparently even poorer value according to the complaints from the party next... More

Alberton is another one of those must see places in Auckland, well worth including as part of a day spent exploring the hidden history of Auckland. Along with Highwic and Ewelme Cottage, Alberton is one of Heritage New Zealands Auckland properties. The house is almost completely original and certainly conveys the story of the family who traveled from England to... More

We attended a friend's wedding at Alberton House, it was a stunning place for a wedding with the ceremony taking place on the veranda and then the reception in a pavilion on the lawn. Everyone had a wander through the house between the ceremony and the reception which kept us entertained while the wedding party had their photos done. The... More
