On a weekday in February, we walked right in and bought our tickets (second in line in the afternoon.) It's 1,076' tall, so we were glad we didn't have to climb steps to the top. An elevator whisked us to Level 51, the main observation deck at 610'. The views on a sunny day were incredible! Then we hopped on another elevator to Level 60 at 722' to walk on a mind-blowing glass sidewalk. The tower is made of 2,000 tons of reinforced steel with 260 panes of glass. Engineers believe it's strong enough to withstand a magnitude 8 earthquake. Impressive!Hi Linda C, Thank you so much for taking time and writing your great experience on trip advisor and giving 5/5 rating. We are glad to hear that you visited on sunny day and explore all our levels and loved walking on glass floor too. Hoping to see you again in future. So you can enjoy evening view with lights too, as both morning & evening have completely different beauty which should not be missed. Kind Regards. - Jeff1903King's Lynn, United Kingdom1,566 contributionsViewIt is big and there is a great view from the top. You had better like glass because there is a lot of it around, including under your feet. General admission allows views from two levels and access to the café, but other attractions suck as the walk, jump and restaurant need extra tickets or reservations. Let's face it, you have come a long way to get to Auckland, so you had better go up the tower.Visited February 2020Written March 2, 2020

Amazing sights. Elevators move like warp speed. If you're 55 or older make sure you ask for "senior" rate because they don't advertise it. On one level they televise a live feed of anybody doing the bungee jump. Entrance to tower not easy to find without asking. You have to take escalator down to below ground level then follow arrows on floor to sky tower. Funny to watch people afraid to get too close to edge and especially to stand on glass in floor with view to bottome of tower.

Lovely sunsets as the kitch to wind around the tower wanes after 20 min. The prefixe meal was spendy at 90 bucks, but polished service and great food was the real treat here. Salmon was perfect, and desserts especially delicious with the sorbets of fruits shining brightly. I’ll be back next year with my America’s Cup gaggle.. thanks Sky Tower.

Went for an impromptu trip with my sister to the sky tower.
Was a memorable visit. On a normal admission you get access to the two main decks. The first one is great and more spacious... and the top one gives better views of the city. We went through the day but I bet the night time visit will be absolutely stunning. You can also get some good family shots in as well so recommend to take your camera.
There is a cafe in between the two decks that is very convenient as it well if you are feeling a bit peckish.
When we first arrived the staffer at the counter couldn’t recognise our booking via Trip Advisor so that was a bit of a hassle but after 15 minutes we were sorted and ready to go.
Other staff members were very friendly and helpful.
Would highly recommend if you are in Auckland for a day or just passing by. :)

Hi BrendaL2842,
Thank you so much for sharing your experience about Sky Tower on Trip Advisor.
My Apologies about confusion at the ticketing counter but happy to hear about your great experience which is very well described on your feedback.
I am glad to know that you had great time with your sister up at the Sky Tower. Yes day time and night both having completely different beauty can not be compared until and unless you experience both.
Looking forward to welcome you again to enjoy night visit too.
Kind Regards,
Sakshi

This is a great place to view the city during the day and at night. I would recommend getting there a
Early or go late afternoon as it got really busy just after 10 in the morning. You can also do the sky walk or sky jump - I did the sky walk and it was well worth it and I’m not great at heights

Brought an American friend living in Auckland to visit the tower after we had done the same in early Match with an overseas friend. In both occasions, we had wonderful views of Auckland from the tower. The various parts of Auckland are well marked, so that you know what you are looking at and we were delighted to recognise some well known icons. The highlight of the visit was seeing a bungy jumper launch from the top of the tower and while none of us were keen to try it, we lived the moment vicariously. We have previously been tothe restaurant at the top, but did not do so on this occasion, although I do believe that for a minimum spend, one can visit both the restaurant and the tower, at no extra cost. It is worth once you have tried walking in the glass panels many feet above the ground (!) and orientated yourself as to where everything is, going up in the lift to the top floor, as views are better for photos.

Hi CollRr,
Thank you so much for sharing your review and giving 5/5 rating on trip advisor really appreciated.
We are glad to know that you visited couple of times with your friends and had really wonderful view of Auckland and surroundings. Walking on the glass floor is really interesting and while on tower if you see jumpers that's bonus too.
Really looking forward to welcome you again in future.

We went to the sky tower last week as we have been meaning to for a while. When we got there the sky deck was closed due to COVID which disappointed us however , the manager took us up herself and showed us around which was great and we really appreciated it. The view was spectacular and every staff member from the security outside the building to the cafe staff were super friendly . My only complaint is that it is a little pricey for what you get and drinks at the top are also a little expensive for a budget traveller. I would recommend getting an annual pass for $60 as if you go twice, you get your monies worth . They also offer a fantastic yoga class on Wednesday and Thursday mornings which is only $20 at the minute which is a bargain.

The SkyTower is a stunning attraction in Auckland. The process to get the tickets if you haven't bought them online already is slick. Staff helpful to get you to the viewing platform, loads of space to move around and see the incredible sights of the harbour and the city.
Photo opportunities for a general photo and a posed 'extreme selfie' if you want. For an extra fee its possible to have a type of bungee jump. There is a cafe/ restaurant, it's open until late, so seeing the night skyline is brilliant.

Hello, can I take a foto from this tower only through glass or is there also an opened terrace? Thanks. zdenek.kovar@centrum.cz
Good Afternoon,
Thank you for your question on the SKYTOWER TripAdvisor page!
We do not have a open air viewing deck however our observation level windows are very clear and excellent quality photos can still be taken through them.
Warm Regards,
Amy
