A beautiful tram and the conductor was highly knowledgeable with a great commentary. I did think it was pricey but was happy to pay for this experience and my son loved it as it's something unique so close to Auckland's harbour. The actual circuit is average and not scenic at all - a loop trip through the industrial area near Wynyard Quarter, I can see if they extended it across to the Viaduct and further it would be more interesting but it is still a nice experience. It stops right next to the Wynyard playground and public toilets too.

Show your tram ticket at the Gelatiamo icecream shop on the pier near the Wynyard restaurants and you can get 10% discount, we showed our tram ticket and had a delicious gelato on a hot day.

I hope the tram is extended, and it gets local and international support as it is a unique attraction for Auckland waterfront.

Now the ticket is cheaper (than before). From previous $10 all day, now the ticket is $2 ALL DAY adult, $1 (5-15 yr old) and under 5yr is free. Well, at least much cheaper than before.

The route is still the same, circulating the local roads at Wynyard area, no change, same route.
The Driver (which is also the Train Conductor) was very friendly and she told the history at Wynyard precinct well.

Some people think the route is too short and not worth for the ticket (previously), but now with the Council Intervention (for the cost) the ticket become much more affordable for pubic to enjoy the Wynyard waterfront.

Put it his way, you visiting Wynyard area not only for the tram ride, but also for the nice playground (if coming with small children) or you want to get great experience dining or lunch at plenty of restaurants available at this site. And every Friday night there is a free film at Silo Cinema, bordered by Silo Markets, serving great food, art, accessories, clothing, crafts and more.

So, the tram ride is the add-on or part of the whole trip to enjoy whole WynYard Water Front.

I think this may be great in the future but at the moment - too dear to see to little.

As has been said before it doesn't really go anywhere or past anything of particular interest...the staff were certainly friendly & it was kinda gimmicky I guess but can't imagine on what planet you could need an all day pass to keep going around in what is a pretty small circle!

A very expensive trip, although the little ones loved it. Comes with an all day ticket, but how many times can you ride around an industrial site. Cheap place to sleep for the day if your on a stop over. If they extended the track in stages and eventually managed to build all the way along the water front to mission bay it would be awesome.

If you like old trams which I do, it is superb. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable about their trams and the local area, driving smoothly and giving a good commentary. The circuit is round a changing developing area. The art work on the tramshed is worth a look. Children seemed to be enjoying the ride and at $2 per person or $5 for a family all day ticket, it is not expensive. A must for the tram enthusiast and a pleasant relaxing ride for everyone else.

We loved this. Classic old tram with seats that switch directions. Sweet commentary from the driver. Very cheap, and your ticket is valid for 45 mins so we just stayed on an rode round 3 times! (The kids were loving it ;-) a lovely addition to the viaduct harbour area.

went on this when 1st established, though pleasant the route was short, so expensive for what you get. As are most of the bars, cafe & restaurants when you have children to also feed. Otherwise a pleasant tourist experience for couples.

Put a tram in from Newmarket to Parnel and the City and I'd rave. Just stick it down the middle of the road.

It would be better if you could pay a smaller amount for a single trip rather than an all day pass, as really it is something to entertain the kids, you can walk the entire (short) distance the tram covers with great ease.
